Ever walked out of a job?

Anyhow, the next time I was back working with him, I lost it. Told him how I felt, explained that maybe the reason his wife had left him a month before was because he was a first class ****, and said he could stick his job somewhere unpleasant.

Felt damn good afterwards.

Nice! Doubt it sank in though!

I went and joined the marines instead.

All sorts of win there. :)

I walked out of ****** once... Management was so dire, was unreal. Sat in his office all day and watched films/played games. Would never help with issues and shouted at customers when they were having some issues.

It was unprofessional, embarrassing and down right rude. I asked to leave, he said he would think about it. I walked out and 3 other staff members followed. Best choice I ever made.

This was a 3 month gap filler between proper jobs, went to work for a friend instead.

Yes. I walked out of my new job about a month ago, as I wasn't doing what the job description said and also had a few other issues.

Walked out of my first ever job after leaving school. It was an egineering apprenticeship, I hated it. This was back in the early 80's just at the start of a recession, spent 3 years on the dole. Learned from that mistake.
I wouldn't leave a job now wothout having another one to walk into.

Yes, when I was younger.

Working on a production line for Delice de France when I was about 13 (cash in hand). I told the manager to **** himself, threw my crate of unbaked croissants on the floor and promptly walked out grabbing a pain au chocolat and eating it whilst walking to the fire exit.

Did the building explode while you were walking towards the camera? :p

Technically I have only walked out of a temp job, after 1 day. The office was unbearably hot, incredibly low ceilings, banks of people sat at PC's with CRT monitors belching out huge amounts of heat, and windows that didnt open.

5 temps started that morning, only 1 returned the next day - heck, even 1 disappeared at lunchtime! I soldiered on for the pay, drank 4 cans of cold pop but couldnt concentrate on the work I was meant to be doing so just typed any old numbers into the computer.

I should have walked out of my last job, but I needed the reference. Lying scumbag god-complex snide little ***** of a team leader, basically had me up in front of a disciplinary hearing for not entering data into a spreadsheet.

I had entered the data, but I'm convinced he deleted it out again so he could get off on his little power trips. Looking back, I should have got a competent solicitor from CAB or somewhere to utterly destroy them in the hearing over the IT aspect, but I hated everything about the job so I couldnt be bothered, so just ended up leaving ASAP.

I once quit Barclays on the spot, wasnt happy with how I was being treated and told them to stuff it.

royal mail , 3rd week on the job, 8 bags of mail to deliver in an area that i didnt even know the location of , half a foot of snow outside , asked for a map and was given one with no street names on. i delivered the bag i was carrying then just rode home on one of their postie bikes and only ever returned to dump the bike back

funniest thing was the next morning when the other guy that started with me phoned and asked me to tell the boss he wouldnt be going back. ''err neither am i''

Walked out of a temp jobs\part time jobs when I was younger, but never a career based one. That would be silly. A friend recently did that after he was (I think justifiably) disciplined for a few things. He's been unemployed for a year now and is in a pretty bad way. I don't recommend it!

Yup :D And it felt great :D

Years and years ago I worked in a pub that had a right nob of a manager. I never had a moments peace from him the minute I started work and mean not a single minutes peace
Anyway, he told me to go on a break and I put my jacket on as I was going to go and buy a sandwhich but just ended up walking home instead
The boozer was mobbed as well which just added to my satisfaction!

Total time spent in said job? Three and a half hours :D Started at nine in the morning and went for my lunch at half twelve :o

This isn't a real job/career so its doable.

Glad to see quite a few people here have done it, gets hard when you reach a certain point its just a case of "Is it really worth it for the measly amount I do get paid".

The job in its self is not to bad but there is something about it that seriously depresses me.

If you can recognise that the job isn't that bad then you must be able to identify what elements of it makes it like that. If you can't put your finger on what depresses you about the job then I reckon you'd be a fool to leave. Identify what it is and if the job is worth it, try to rectify or deal with what is making you feel this way before packing it in. Having no job will do nothing for your self esteem and will only lead to regret later on :(

Walked out instead of punching someone. Drove home, typed my notice, had a shower, drove back in and handed it in.

I didn't actually leave in the end, but major words were said about teamwork and the other person on the job.

Ended up changing my rota so i never had to work with that person again.

Walked out after ~5 years, I'd worked there since i was 18, work hard party hard sort of place, the management only looked after there own, if they didnt take to you then you were going no where, One day i just woke up and decided i needed a change and never looked back since. i think if i hadn't of burnt my bridges it would have been to easy to just go back to it. 5 years on the people i worked with/for are still there doing little more with there lives. Ironicly there in the Sunday Times Top 10 people to work for.

Some of the best years of my life though.
