Woolly Mammoth will likely re-walk the earth in 4-5 years.

This would be awesome if it happened, but I can't see it ever getting off the ground really. I saw a lifesize replica of the Wooly Mammoth in the Czech national museum and I couldn't believe how big they are. Far, far bigger than elephants.
Reminds me of the bloke who wanted to reintroduce a load of native animals (including wolves and boars) into the Highlands. Wooly Mammoths would be more than welcome.
 
There was a plan of sorts to introduce some breed of eagle across Suffolk not that long ago. Unsurprisingly, this didn't get very far.
 
I would love to hunt one. And maybe see micro-mammoths bred for fashionistas. Which of course turn out to be sold by unscrupulous breeders and they grow to full size and ruin the sitting room.

for example the dodo, that thing was supposed to be epically tasty we need it back!


Hopefully mammoth tastes good too or is useful for medical research.
 
How green are mammoths though? Would they be better than a cow in terms of released gases? If they are better, then we could do away with cows altogether and eat mammoth steaks instead.

Elk, wolves, boar and beaver have already been re-introduced. I seem to recall somewhere that they were also trying to re-breed/clone Irish Elk and Aurochs which would be cool. :)
 
Meh. What with all the global warming they'd be wiped out again within a couple of weeks.

Don't think wolves have been, I think the plan to release them into the wild was rejected ultimately. It was then watered-down to an idea of introducing them within a fenced area of Alladale Estate but that to was rejecting because of welfare concerns.
