I think I remember seeing some documentary ages ago about finding mammoth sperm in frozen mammoths and impregnating elephants and gradually breeding more mammoth-like mammoths. They were optimistic about it, and I fully expected to see half elephant half mammoth things walking round the zoo in 10 years time... No luck so far. So maybe they were just going about it the wrong way.

The Japanese have set themselves a mammoth task. Seeing as it's Japanese I won't be surprised if it becomes a mech mammoth.

Either way I don't think Mauritians would like Mammoths roaming round Mauritius!
