I love this monitor, the quality is amazing but im not an expert, just 1 question maybe anyone with this monitor can answer.

If I turn this monitor on and off, specially after it's been inactive for a long time.

I turn the computer on and it takes like 30 seconds for the picture to show up, my windows will load before the monitors shows it, is this normal? It only happens after its been turned off.

Confusing what you meant by that..
You mean to say..
You turn the monitor on then off.. then the pc on, then turn the monitor on and it takes ages to show up?

In any case, it doesn't sound right to me. Shouldn't take long to show visuals.

Yeah

Scenario:

I turn monitor off then turn it back on.

Takes like 10 seconds for picture to show again.

or

I turn monitor off tonight, go to sleep, wake up following morning and turn it on.

Takes like 30 seconds at least for picture to show up.

I'm not 100% worried cuz it's got 3 year warranty but just wondering if that's going to get worse, i can live with it now but you know what i mean.

I've seen other people with a similar problem i.e. here, here, here or here, but they also have a problem with the menu buttons being locked.

Try specifically setting the Input Source to whatever you use (probably DVI). Like Razor-BladE, my U2311H takes about 3 seconds to display an image after turning it on.

If your monitor is otherwise perfect and this power on problem doesn't really bother you, then you might just want to stick with the one you've got as there is the possibility that a replacement model could have some other defects. Of course, there's also the possibility that the replacement will be fine/better, just food for thought :)

Yeah I know , i've seen those threads as well, yeah I didn't really want to RMA as it takes too long and i dont have a spare monitor.

I've noticed that, when I unplug the power and dvi cable from the monitor for like 10 seconds, it resets and it's fine, i then am able to select DVI port as the default display from the OSD Menu, but eventually it goes back to the same. Im not really sure what to do, do you think maybe I should never turn it off ? Perhaps turning it off is resetting the display settings to auto select and thats why its taking so long?

I dunno, either way, there's something wrong here :D

RMA on Dells is excellent, you phone up and assuming you do so before the cut off a guy turns up the next day and you just swap the screens at the doorstep. I'm pretty sure they check the replacements for most things, never had one with a dead pixel and I've done three exchanges.

that's really good. I might send them an email and just see what they say. I don't want to have to rma this if it's a minimal problem, just wondering, what sort of other problems are there? serious ones? :D

Yeah, I know it's 17 months old, but this might help somebody else one day...

I only encountered this problem for the first time last week and eventually found my way here and linked it to SpeedFan, as mentioned in Tyrial's link. Bizarre indeed.

Long story short (a lot of trial and error), reverting to SpeedFan 4.41 seems to cure the problem for me - http://www.filehippo.com/download_speedfan/8028/
