Hi,
I'm looking for a record player.(anyone here uses one)
There are few on the market, most of them by makers I have never heard of....and most of them with usb(u don't need one!!)

Could you help me find one please :) doesn't have to super expensive ;)
Cheers

does your amp have a phono input?, if not then you will need a phono amp as well. As for the price, well the sky is the limit from £200-£2K. look on Ebay for ProJect turntables for a cheap option, or an old Rega Planer 2 for a semi serious hi-fi

I used to have a Rega P1 which was quite good as far as a budget turntable goes

As stated you'll need a phono stage. Cambridge Audio and Project do decent cheap ones for about £70. Or you could probably find one cheaper on either ebay or various forums. I just sold my Project Phono box for £40 inc postage to give you an idea of price.

Turntable wise you have an absolutely huge range of options, what kind of budget are you looking at?

Thanks guys,

Budget ? hard to say, but not more than £100 unless I will wait ;)

re phono input, I will have to check. I would have it conected (if poss) to mine ONKYO HTX22HDX

just found SONY PSLX300 for under £100 and maybe I will go for it....apparently it does not need phono input in an amp ...

Pretty sure you won't have a phono input on that.

Therefore you have 2 options

1. Buy a turntable all in one jobbie. Sound probably wouldn't be as good but depends how into Vinyl you want to get
2. Buy a seperate Phono amp and turntable. You can scour ebay but i'd say you'd be looking at around £100 for a decent second hand budget turntable and then you'd need about £50 for a phono stage so would be a bit above your budget.

Something like this would be great Link

Thanks Marv,

had a look on this Sony again and they say it has phono stage built in hmmmm

But I will go through ebay as well :)

BTW: if you guys know any good internet retaiers selling vinyls let me know ;)

I've given up on vinyl to be honest, i just found that i didnt play it enough and didnt want to buy vinyl and the cd equivelant for the ipod.

I just picked up vinyl from local record shops generally.

I think I will visit one local to me as well....but I know that some of the new albums get published on vinyls as well...

Few years back I lost my big collection ...I miss my red hot chilli peppers on vinyls ;(

Sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but why do want to get into vinyl ?.... The reason it still is support (It's grown not shrunk in recent years) is because of it sound quality, and the ability to be better than anything else....... BUT.... a huge BUT at a cost.......

If your not going to through a fair chunk of money at it, don't waste or time and money.
Secondly to appreciate it you want the rest of the system to be up to scratch as well....

Personaly I think you will be disapointed with it and give pretty quickly.

I'd look at the Projek range, or a second hand Rega Planar 3 or Linn Axis, which is going to set you back 2-300 quid.
Turntables can't be done cheap, they are full of precision mechanical engineering.

dont mind harsh :)

at the moment Im still researching ;)
Was told off by mine GF just for the idea lol :)

as said earlier, Im thinking about it as I had loads of vinyls some years ago...

Don't get me wrong I still have and use vinyl, just had the deck serviced and it sounds great..... but then to most people it costs a stupid amount of money !!!!!
Diverse Vinyl are a good source of records... mail order.

Thats a good point actually. Especially with regards to new records.

I had to spend £16 to get the XX album on vinyl whereas i could've spent half that for the cd equivalent.
