This was only a dare as well, not even a bet or something!
Apparently he got the name of pasty smasher in a food fight.... D

This was taken out of the Metro paper (Manchester).

If this was facebook i would "Like" it.

I keep getting the urge of trying to "like" replies on here :o

Wow, I wish somebody would invent a device that allowed me to cut pieces of paper in a straight line.

Some say they are out there and are called 'scissors.'

Scientists are just working on a perfected design.

...I was on the train at the time and ripped it out because i don't carry scissors around.

I assume he had an PhD/MD already, or else I think it's bull as you can't change your name in an attempt to overstate qualifications/position.

EDIT - I'm right.

If you require a change of title from a general title to an academic title, we will need to see documentary evidence of your entitlement to use your desired title. For example, if you require Dr as your new title, we will need to see a copy (by fax or post) of your Ph.D certificate. If you are a medical doctor or a dentist, you only need to advise us of your GMC or GDC reference number in the comments box on your application form.

'I have to be honest, I thought because I was changing it on some website it wouldn’t be real, but then I got a letter confirming it.'

Dr Omelette has now updated his work name badge to include his new title, his girlfriend and children however has decided not to use the unusual name.

This was also my thought, you can change your name, but you can't change your title to an academic title through deed poll. Unless of course he was changing his name to "Dr Pasty-Smasher Omelette" so he would be Mr Dr Pasty-Smasher Omelette?

Seems the most likely to me.
If the dude who changed his name isn't an OcUK member, one of his mates almost certainly will be.

I'm not sure you can do that either. So I remain skeptical.
