Hello.

Please can you guys help me spec up a full gaming machine including peripherals [EDIT] but NOT the monitor, with a budget of £1200.

Thanks. :)

Thanks for that. I'll take a look later.

I've changed my mind - not including the monitor anymore, so £1200 just for the base unit and peripherals.

Right, virtually bang on budget.

  • SSD is a must for a new build with your budget!
  • 6950 and flash it to a 6970!
  • High quality PSU which will can accomodate dual gpu setup later if needed.
  • Cheapish case, but good bang-for-buck.
  • Better motherboard over the standard Asus P67, allows for Crossfire (Single@x16 or dual@x8/x8 mode or dual@x16/x1 mode) .
  • 8GB RAM
  • Good everyday/gaming mouse. Not to sure on the keyboard however.

Or,

Get the foxconn p67a-s intel p67 (socket 1155) ddr3 motherboard and a 6970 instead.

this board also does x8/x8 crossfire.

those pathway switches adapt the board from a single 16-lane slot to two eight-lane slots whenever a second card is detected.

On a side note, price of the i5 2500K has increased a fair bit today. Can be had for £178.99 from elsewhere.

This 650W PSU is a little cheaper but is out of stock. Should provide enough juice for Crossfire later too.

You could drop 4GB of the RAM and maybe get a better case. I put the soundcard in there as I never liked onboard sound. If you drop 4GB of the RAM, instead of getting a different case you could get some headphones to go with the Xonar.

I think all the components are compatible.. :)

Edit: Damn it I forgot Windows, all is lost :) Guess you would have to drop 4GB and go a bit over budget to add in the cost of Windows.

Thats a nice build there, but the CPU Isnt going to cool itself.
Don't forget to include a cooler!

if your referring to HP's build its a retail chip so already has a cooler supplied, fair enough with that amount to spend you'd go third party tho..........
