tyre advice please

Why did you bother asking us for advice if the eventual action you took was the opposite of what everyone said?

Great on the ice? Really?

Are Maxxis not a Budget brand and Firestone TZ200's a Mid-range.

according to Wiki Maxxis are manufactured by Cheng-Shin Rubber Ind. (are these nicknamed Ling Long?)

I thought I had it bad with my Kormoran apparently manufactured by Michelin in Poland. lol

Ling Long is a real brand, I also thought it was an online thing until I actually saw them fitted to the car :D

Firestone TZ200s were standard fit on Fiesta in the late 90's when they were new, think the Focus came with them at some point as well. I know for a fact that although they might be no performance tyre, a large manufacturer would not stick ditchfinders on new cars.

I had Firestone TZ200s on an old Merc. It was a barge not sporty but they did nicely. It is a MPV not a sports car so I would prefer mid-range to budget imo. If money is no option then knock yourself out.

Because maybe i don't have money flowing out my ear holes to pay an extra £60 on top.

And TBH from experience of owning both the TZ200's from new and the MAXXIS MAP-1 the MAXXIS are well ahead , quieter road noise, better dry and wet grip they are V rated tires but i doubt they'll ever see above 80mph so not likely to explode on me. Now if i was buying tires for a sports car it would probably be a different story but considering most my driving is the school run and shopping/town driving

You have to give companies a chance even sony/intel/amd etc etc all started somewhere. I remember when people were gashing LG tv's a while back now they are one of the biggest contenders on the market. Whats to say in 10 years time MAXXIS might be the biggest tire brand on the market who knows, obviously no one does but it's something that can and does happen

I am also sure that certain tyres work better on certain cars better than others.

If the OP is happy with there performance then I am sure he has done well. Lets face it he drives the car and knows if it feels better or not.

Far better than my budgets that are completely terrible. lol Wanna swap? :D

I have the Maxxis MA-V1's on the front of mine. And they were fine for the first 4k miles.

Now i wish i'd have spent the extra £21 for the Vredesteins i was offered -.-

Don't be silly, Maxxis might be the biggest tire (sic) brand in the world in 10 years!
