For people who play FPS a lot (5+ hours per week) and use the WASD keys:

1) On average, how many hours per week do you play FPS games?

2) What keyboard do you have and how long have you had it?

3) How would you say the tactile response of your WASD keys are compared to when you first got your keyboard?

For example mine are:

1) 10 hours per week.

2) Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 3000 and owned for just under 2 years.

3) W, S and A keys feel spongy and my D key has lost all tactile response, i.e. when I press it I get no click whatsoever and it hardly depresses at all (though I still get the input for the letter D)

Would appreciate some replies, thanks!

10 hours fps, but use them in tons of other games (3rd person shooters, minecraft, as scroll keys in rts etc) so maybe closer to 30?

Razer Lycosa, 18 months.

Pretty much perfect.

I swear by mechanical action keyboards rather than membrane for gaming - used a bunch of basic mechanical action keyboards i.e. cherry for 10+ years and the keys never lose their tactile response.

30 hours a week

Cherry RS 6000M, owned ~3 years

Still as the day I bought it.

When I'm playing an fps online, it's the only game I'll play, so usually maybe 20-30 hours per week.

The original Saitek Eclipse I (before they revised the design for the second version of Eclipse I) - 5 and a half years

All keys feel just as good now as when they were new.

Hmmm, so does anyone know why my WASD key have lost their original tactile response? The keys on this keyboard are fairly flat, more like laptop keys, could this be the problem?

6-8 hours per week. Also some RPG's that use the same keys

Cheapo Logitech wireless desktop.

Keys feel exactly as they did when I bought it a year ago.

1. 10- 15 hours a week, plus plenty of coding and other usage, so probably a lot more.
2. Razer Lycosa
3. Screwed :p (2 years old) Was never the best keyboard to begin with, and the amount of abuse it gets probably made this inevitable. Would really like an old style Apple wired keyboard back, used one of these for the better part of 4 years until the WASD broke & it was a much nicer keyboard.

5-6 hours per week

Hiper Aluminium keyboard

WASD keys feel no different to any of the other keys. Had the keyboard for around 3-4 years.

I'd imagine it'll be the same until the rubber nipples perish.

1. 10-15 hrs a week
2. Second hand logitech g15 rev 1
3. Feel fine, not sure how long the guy i bought it from had it, but the silver finish is slightly worn were your palm and thumb would be when gaming.

5-15 hrs/week WASD action
Dell RT7D50
Not very old, I have loads of em at work and a few boxed ones set aside. Feels perfect

1) On average, how many hours per week do you play FPS games?
1-2hours a night pretty much on L4D2, more on weekends.

2) What keyboard do you have and how long have you had it?
Logitech K750 wireless solar powered keyboard. Review here. Over 2 weeks now.

3) How would you say the tactile response of your WASD keys are compared to when you first got your keyboard?
Like all the Logitech boards I have had gaming performance is excellent, no lag but it's the first keyboard where any combination of WASD+CTRL/SHIFT/SPACE works flawlessly unlike many keyboards out today.

1) On average, how many hours per week do you play FPS games?
15-30+ a week most of the time I've owned it, less now.

2) What keyboard do you have and how long have you had it?
Razer Tarantula, 3 years now. (Jan 08)

3) How would you say the tactile response of your WASD keys are compared to when you first got your keyboard?
As new.

1. Recently about 5 hours a week but ave more like 10.
2. Microsoft Reclusa, had for just over a year.
3. Same as day 1.

It replaced a Saitek Eclipse II actually, and that was a good keyboard. I got it second hand, had it for a couple of years and my mother-in-law is now using it. It's still like new.
