My GF's mum came to me last night with a problem that she has got with her Blackberry Bold 9780. Basically whenever she is on the phone, she can never hear the other person on the phone properly as the voice keeps cutting out for a split second or will skip etc. She always has a full signal and the calls never get cut off. She has had this problem with the phone ever since first getting it a month ago and it happens anywhere she uses the phone / any call made.

Now the first thing I tried was turning the Bluetooth off as she always has it turned on, tried by test ringing Orange 150 to listen to the Operate and it still sounded bad. Next thing I tried was turning off the Wi-Fi, rang 150 again and the voice sounded crystal clear! I rang it again to be sure and it still sounded brilliant.

So, I have just about pin-pointed this down to being the Wi-Fi somehow conflicting with phone calls. Has anyone else experienced this same problem & is there a workaround solution as when she is at home, she needs the Wi-Fi on all the time and doesn't really want it turning off.

Thanks all - Liam

Orange has UMA which basically means you can make calls over a WiFi connection, maybe the wireless signal was weak hence why it is cutting out?

Aahh I didn't know that!

The Wi Fi signal on the phone is very good most of the time as the the router is only in a little cupboard which is joined with the lounge.

She says though that the problem still occurs even when she is out?

Thanks - Liam
