Just got my 6950 through the post :) happily running at 880/1350.

However, next to the dvi port on the backplate it the logo (rev B)

Does this mean and have fixed the unlocking? I cant check whether mine will ATM, as the Internet here is down (using my iPhone  )

Can anyone else check their backplate, especially those of you who have unlocked?

Thanks guys :)

This is what I got

Sorry to ask such a daft and obvious question, but did you buy it from OCUK? as I am weighing up getting one of the ones on this week's deals but won't bother if they aren't unlockable any more

Tbh, I'm not that bothered about unlocking it, it's sitting happil at 900/1400, although the temps are up to 85 (not for long, im getting the Zakman cooler as soon as I can confirm it works on the 69 series. Just giving other people a heads up to the possibility. As I said, anyone with an unlocked one can you please check?

Oh and Al4x? The little sign saying Rev B on mine is just underneath where yours says VGA :(

Yeah I did. I should be able to flash it tomorrow, gonna copy the BIOS over to a flash drive and have a crack :)

Tbf the card has still overclocked like a demon so far :), 900/1400 on stock volts ATM

Just had a look at the power connectors, and they still look like theyve been sanded down. My hopes have been raised :)

I will await your results of the unlocking process with much interest and would like to wish you the very best of luck

There is a program that does everything for you.

I used it on my HD6950 and it was flawless.

It saves your old bios and flashes the new bios all in windows.

When i wanted it flashed back i just ran the flash back to old bios in the same folder and it did it perfectly.

Yeah ive got it downloaded on the Uni servers :D but the Internet here is an amalgamation of shiny and bright (work it out :p) and so unless I can get a flash drive tomorrow I'll have to wait till monday :)

Looks like 920 on the core is a nogo too. Just grey screened in kombustor :)

Trying 910 now, then I'll up the ram.

Oh and the sanding issue was where the power connectors on 6970's were sanded down to turn them into 6950's iirc. Nice one AMD ;)

I could have missed the point here (if so, sorry), but a flash drive isn't necessary - you can just download the files and do it all in windows

I won't be able to afford another 6950 for a couple of months so hopefully they will still be flashable.

I would have thought with the positive feedback and free advertising gained due to the 6970 flash Ati would have just left them as they were. People are still buying the 6970's and the price of 6950's has crept up anyway.

They must be selling huge amounts of them so why discourage people by removing the possibillty of flashing?
