ok, ill give that a miss then for now, who should i buy from Steam or EA?

Don't miss it, it adds a completely new dimension to the game, albeit that only 2 of the conquest maps are any good, but you can really have some epic battles on them.

Recently though, I have been playing the normal version of the game. Trying to rank up a bit by completing the weapon challenges.

There are still 2 pins that illude me though, the destroy 4 MCOMS in a round and 5 Specact MG3 kills in a row. It is REALLY annoying me now!

Well i just bought BC2, currently downloading it, but won't be ready to play tonight.

I'll be getting paid in 2 weeks so I'll probably wait till then to buy Vietnam.

Trust me, you will love BC2, ive been off it for a few weeks due to personal reasons. Got back on it tonight and it makes you wonder if this is one of the best games ever made, ok its got its problems but some of the games i had tonight on it were amazing.

still getting smashed at Vietnam, created a new soldier to take the hits (wish i had done that soooner, ruined my k/d ) especially after the other maps came out, but really enjoying it even when taking a beating :)

temporarily nick6262 but normally the_munkeh if you want my tags :)

Yeah, i was a huge fan of BF1942 a long time ago, but havent played any of the recent 1's (except a few games on BC2 on a friend's Xbox).

I'm sure i'll love it though.

Because it feels a lot more like playing hardcore mode I tend to be a bit more cautious when playing Vietnam to the normal game. Just to learn the levels, snoop around with an M40 and take your time.

I can't get over how good Oasis is as a CQ map, sometime it can be epic on Rush if the attackers get past the first mcoms but CQ is amazingly good. Perfectly balanced CQ map.

I'm still recovering my K/D on my soldier (now level 39) after a really poor start up to about level 10. I didn't have a clue truth be told! I've made it back to about 0.97 overall and am positive with the assault class. It's the medic that takes a caning as I can't find a medic gun I'm really happy with.

Im just going online now for the 1st time, could someone lend me some advice on the best place to start i.e what servers are best for new noobs? Im not to sure what to go in as, i was thinking of trying a medic and see how i get on?

Same here. I am on about 0.96 now with about 250 kills to claw back against deaths.

When I first got the game, I just went a bit crazy and went charging about everywhere, I got good high scores but my KD was ridiculous! Nearly there though, another couple of weeks casual playing will eventually claw it back, I have basically got into a conscious habit of only ever getting a >1 KD per round. And for the record, I don't just sit around and snipe. Assault class tends to help a lot and the 4x Scope on a sniper rifle to use it like a close quarters weapon.

Medic is pretty good to level up quick but I aren't a fan. I rarely play as medic any more, mostly play as assault or engineer. I only ever play engineer on vehicle heavy maps though in order to get me 500 vehicle kills, only got about 90 more to go now. It's a pretty hard badge to get due to the sheer amount of vehicle kills required.

I might be the only one here but I don't give a toss personally, about k/d ratios etc in this game. I just find it so fun. Both BC2 and Vietnam...I tend to have good and bad days but I still enjoy myself. :)

Cool cheers mate, how many maps are there to choose from? really need to get used to them so i know what the best way is to approach them and what to use. My main worry is im gonna get killed soooo many times being new to this its gonna take me ages to get a good kill death ratio

Just charge into it for now, worry about KD later if you REALLY want to. I just see my progression to higher KD as a benchmark for becoming a better player, not becoming a boring player.

cool will do one last thing is there a "so called" best weapon to start of with or is it really down to personal prefrence? I've been going through the main campagin and to be honest i have used the same gun all the way through cos i love it, its got a decent scope and a good fire rate thats all you need i guess right?

just played some normal bc2 and my god, i get like 30 fps for some reason... when i first installed it - it was running perfectly! 60+fps all the time on High settings in DX 11 with 8xAF and 4x AA. Somehow it's broken itself, any clues anyone?

(system is cleaned all the time, defragged etc..)

It used to be the M60 but it has been nerfed since those early days. Probably just stick with medic at first and unlock the magnum ammo thing and start on Assault. I tend to use the AEK-971 a lot, an underrated gun.

cool cheers mate i'll report back how i get on, is it best to tone down the graphics setting when playing online? mines currently set to high, i cant see any settings for aa and af as im sure my ccc is set to use application settings which this game doesnt seem to have. Just want to try and reduce as much lag as possible

Nothing about the Medic class is awesome. Everything about it is plain unbalanced. They get guns with stupid amounts of ammo to promote camping and absolutely ridiculous accuracy when fired in bursts or single shots. As they can heal which promotes camping even more because they can just sit on a medkit. Up close you can be killed by even the ****tiest medic just because he can hold down fire for 5x longer than you can if things go wrong. Defibs are unbalanced thanks to the ****ing stupid invincibility you get which has got me killed several times because they survived a shotgun slug as the invincibility lasts just a bit after they get up. Most of the retards who play medic don't throw down medkits except for themselves and defib you regardless, multiple times in a row, because they get points for doing it, even if you have no ammo or get shot immediately.

Very few people play it properly. Even less so than the Recon class.

Play Vietnam.

I always thought, as I've said before, that engineers should've had the Heavy guns instead.
