Went to collect a mate at the Post office depot this morning, his motor is currently in the shop and he had to pick up a parcel so was running late.. Offered him a lift, the road is a one way and cars are parked on all of the spots, so i pulled up at this entrance/exit behind a RM van http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en...&panoid=fYHomISucYhzp0eMudONfA&cbp=12,36,,0,5 and put my hazards on, literally 15-20 seconds or so. Some RM guy came running out and shouting that i'll get done for obstucting an entrance and i'll get fined? Is this even possible? :D If anything was coming i'd of have moved without issue.

If its there land and private car park, sure they can do as they please I'm sure? Public road I doubt it. The police would just move you on.

you can get done for obstructing somebodys access to the public highway i believe.

He was probably on one because they are sick and tired of people parking there and blocking what i'm guessing is an enterance road round the back of the depot or something.

Interesting debate here :

Its not clear cut, but it does seem you can commit an offence of Obstruction by blocking a road like that.

I find it annoying when people stick their hazards on then proceed to park where they aren't supposed to as if the hazards are some sort of licence to stick the car anywhere. If everyone did it the roads would grind to a halt, however there seems to be a select few who think the red triangle switch on their dash is a "park anywhere" button.

So you parked across an entrance & are puzzled why someone challenged you? Am I missing something? Couldn't you have just found somewhere less intrusive to park?

Engine running, me waiting for what i know would take literally seconds as he was being served as i spoke to him on my phone (hands free in case you start about mobile users ;) ) and no, there was no where else to park. It would take me about 5 seconds to move out of anyones way coming in or out. I'll just stop in the middle of the road next time :D

This. Do you have a Range Rover or expensive German prestige car? The chap probably had no idea how long you were planning to stay and as above, probably had a good reason. Still, you can tell him to stuff it if you like, it's up to you. It's not like you're likely to get caught.

What are those freaky midgets doing down that road in the streetview?

This?

It's not dodgy at all but I think I would give it a miss, thanks.

The OP didn't park. He pulled up in his car and then stayed sat in his car with the engine running waiting for his mate to arrive.

If someone came along wanting to get in the road......... the OP would put the car in gear and moved it!

Obviously parking the car there and then going down't pub isn't a bright idea, but pulling up for 20 seconds is fine.

Moved it where? To the place he should have parked in the first place maybe?

Are British Satellite Broadcasting still going?

Look at the house next door to the white one in the OPs Street View link.

Looks like a Squarial dish! :D

Just pull up a few metres further along the road!

Parking != Stopping for 20 seconds!

I dunno, hes deadset that there must be other places to park and i just think its my right to do whatever i please. I leave at about 6:50 and most people are still in bed by the time i got to the RM depot at 7, every single possible parking spot is still occupied, trust me i looked because i hate getting into awkward positions, especially first thing in the morning.
