GTX 470 or ATI 6950?

There is not much between those two cards, certainly wouldn't upgrade from one to the other. Would just go with the 6950 for the newer tech and 2Gb of memory.:)

And what about OCing? I hear you need to flash the 6950 to get the best of it, I wonder how the two compare on a decent overclock. Also because it's so damn hard to find a SB motherboard that can run SLI :/

GTX470 will easily OC to GTX570 performance and slightly beyond, good ones (or if your feeling brave/after market cooling) will clock to GTX580 performance - obviously can't match a decently OC'd 580/570/480 tho and you need to push it pretty hard (1.1vcore) to get to stock 580 performance unless you get a really good clocker.

Very easy to do.
Not heard of any that don't, but that may/may not change when second batches come out.

I don't know about an OC comparison but for unlocked 6950 to stock 6970 v 470

Stock 6950 has 5 fps higher minimum frame rates than 580 in Crysis (not warhead) too due to higher frame buffer.

I know a few that haven't, couple of people I know with 6950 cf had 1 of the cards not work 100% stable even after turning memory clocks down and seen the odd person posting here who've had instability after flashing at a guess sucess rate is somewhere between 70 and 80%.

I would wait for the GTX560 release personally. Should offer near 470 performance with newer architecture, etc, cooler, quieter. Can't knock a 470 as got one myself, absolutely cracking card. Have mine at 800/1760/1600 @ 1.050v. At their current price, however, I feel the 6950 is the better card for the money. Just wish I'd bought two of the 470s last month when they could be had for £160 odd.

Yeah very happy with my 470 SLI, with overclock they snap at the heels of stock 580 SLI at less than the price of a single 580. (£311 after selling the mafia 2 voucher).

Wouldn't the 560 be more expensive than the 470 on launch? I know where to buy a 470 for £170, I can't imagine a new generation card of that performance being released for less than 180-200.
