I played 10 before 8&9 and preferred it to both, I also massively enjoyed 13 though I agree it's flaws were very close to ruining it.
Also don't count the online FF's, they are VERY eastern MMO's and cater to a sickeningly specific audience.
Also, Square are just a weird company, they have made all their money from stretching a genre to breaking point, they have recently tried different things and it's been hit and miss, XII was arguably a great game but I who loved the progression of Linearity -> Freedom of previous titles just got bored from being bombarded with choices, making 14 much more my style (corridor gameplay aside).
They have been doing this for a looooooong time, it's understandable that things were going to get tricky at some point, don't blame them for making a game you didn't enjoy, just makes you look like an entitled jerk, be happy they made some great games and have a little faith, they have done amazing things and will probably continue to do amazing things, acting like they are somehow betraying you or any other fan because they can't feed you perfection every few years is ridiculous and makes you look like a fool.
You say "why are they destroying the final fantasy name", what they chose to do is nothing to do with you, if they decide what direction they want to take their franchise let them for gods sake, the reason they are such a bloody good developer is because they are so good at doing what they feel is best and trying new things, it;s not like they looked at choices for XIII and said "Right yet, this one looks like our best option to insult our fans".
Also, there have been 12 games so far spanning over 20 years, discounting XI and XIV, how many authors do you know who have written 12 consecutive and completely individual fantasy novels without a hiccup here and there? I imagine the list could fit on one hand, if in fact there are any. We expect far too much.
Just be happy they gave you some games you could could really enjoy.
