2x1gb sticks work with 2x2gb added as well?

Alright guys, I've been looking at upgrading my RAM and it seems that, after doing research, that the best idea I think is to just put more of the same in. I'm just checking that this will actually work.

I currently have:

Asus p5kc
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz

The p4kc has 4 x DIMM, max. 8GB, DDR2 1066*/800 / 667 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory Dual channel memory architecture

according to the Asus site.

So I want to keep this RAM, and stick an additional GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz in it, which is just 2x2gb sticks of the same stuff.

Will this work and will it have much of an impact on Photoshop (which is what it's mainly for).

This is probs obvious, but it's best to check. Cheers

Yes, this will work perfectly fine.
The extra memory should make photoshop and windows run much more smoothly in general. Especially during multitasking.

If Photoshop already lags with the 2GB you have, (which is the reason i'm assuming you're adding more memory) then you will see a large performance increase.

Nice one, thanks man. Photoshop runs alright generally, but I regularily hit 4gb plus file sizes these days and it starts to grind. I'll get it in.

Memory voltage sorry :) Might need a notch more for stability, for instance if the current voltage is 1.85v you might need 1.9-1.95v to get things running right.
