whats the difference of this 1155 compared to the 1366 ...triple channel memory on the 1366 but not on the 1155....is it worth getting compared to what i already have in my sig...... thanks

Overclock your 920 to 4ghz and it will last you for a few good years. No point going to 1155, it will be more of a side step. 2011 is the true 1366 successor.

While the I7's on the 1155 socket are about 15 percent faster clock-for-clock, and will overclock about 10 percent higher, you'd be better just overclocking your current CPU.

no im not struggling everything is ok just wondering i know they have usb 3 and 6gb sata....which i want in the next few months or so....was more like well what have they come away from triple channel memory for is there any reason for that....to be honest not really into overclocking little bit well see myself as a little scared trying overclocking lol did try once though but put it back to clock speed....so there there is no real benefits just that they are new products is that it.

Well there are some benefits, but from your current system there really is no point jumping to Sandybridge for something like 2-3 FPS gain.

I really would recommend overclocking that 920. From stock to 4ghz you'll see a significant improvement. If you want, you can ask those with i7s to post their overclock settings to help you overclock your chip as well.

they havent come away from triple channel at all, the 1366 is the high spec intel stuff and 1155/1156 isnt.
triple channel will return at the end of this year with the intel upgrades and new socket.

people seem to think the 1155 replaces the 1366 socket but it doesnt at all, its just an intel refresh/stockgap.

Triple channel won't return, they're going quad channel memory as far as I know :( More expense...

If you're just a gamer the P67 platform isn't a bad move at all if you're not into overclocking. Personally i'd say learn how to though and claim some free performance :)

Start overclocking!

IMHO, there's nothing more fun than seeing what you can get out of hardware. I'm not a 'hardcore clocker' like some that reside (lurk) here, but some chips literally want to be clocked.

Q6600's, 2x00K'x... heck, I remember my old A64 Venice 3000 had a stock of 1.8 and I got 2.7 out of it on a stock cooler without effort! :p

Certainly not worth the sidestep. What cooler have you got. All Bloomfield i7's should be able to get to at least 3.8GHz on air with a sub £30 cooler. Invest in a slightly better one and as long as you've got a reasonable case with good airflow should get it up to 4GHz with the minimal of effort. As for USB 3.0 and SATA 6 GPS, there aren't really very many devices which can utilize these at their full potential at the moment. If you really have money burning a hole in you pocket then wait for LGA 2011 later on in the year (Q£ 2011). Or pick up a USB 3.0/SATA 3 controller card and a new generation SATA 3 SSD in a few months time (maybe the Crucial C400 (Q1) or OCZ Vertex 3(Q2-Q3)). This will make you whole rig feel much snappier and sharper. Maybe crossfire 5870 in the meantime or pick up a 6970?
