My insurance is due soon for my Honda Civic and Hastings is currently the cheapest I've found. However, they have bunged Motor Legal Protection on the end but I can remove it. The question I have is - Is it worth it? Here is the definition from their email:

Motor Legal Protection

Assistance in managing your claim for uninsured losses such as personal injury, replacement vehicle hire and your policy excess in the event of a non-fault claim.

doesnt mean he wont need it in this term of cover :p it covers uninsured losses like loss of earnings, excess can be claimed back and obviously as mentioned court costs/solicitors fees

normally costs about £18-35 depending on the company, many people see it as something all policies should have, which is why some companies give it as a standard benefit

A lot of people haven't needed comprehensive car insurance in their driving careers, but it doesn't stop them from taking it out because it's all about the "what-if".

No. But I might. And I'd rather pay £25 or whatever it was to make sure I had some legal protection, rather than not have any and need it..

I've never had a fault accident, but that doesn't mean I don't need FC insurance. (If you ignore the obvious failing for that argument that it's a legal requirement to have at least TP insurance).

'No win no fee' is the same thing and doesn't cost anything. Insurance companies probably outsource it to the same people anyway.

thats if you injured, not the same if your claiming for court fees for example for someone hitting you car, unless you claim for injuries that didnt happen, hence putting peoples prices up for the following year.

plus not everyone qualifys to use "no win no fee" where as legal cover is there for you to claim back what ever has come out of your pocket

The point I am making is that it's probably of limited value - if you are involved in a non-fault accident then you don't need to pay for a lawyer anyway - there are numerous firms such as Helphire et al who will be chomping at the bit to sort everything out for you.
