Woohoo, a new M&B game! Was just thinking yesterday how awesome a M&B sequel would be - low and behold i find a trailer for one today! Looks like it's using an upgraded engine. Set for release this spring. Day 1 buy for me.

It was one the most romantic, cruel and dramatic episode of the Europe history.

Based on the original gameplay of M&B: Warband, With Fire and Sword is an action-oriented role-playing game with emphasis on mounted combat. The player is able to join one of the 5 battling factions, fight as a mercenary and bring his faction to dominate Europe.

A storyline based on the cult novel from
Nobel-prize winner author Henry Sienkiewicz.

A new century of warfare that brings pistols, muskets, grenades, and other advanced weaponry to the battlefield.

Fully customizable armies; players can outfit their soldiers with each piece of weaponry & armor.

Additional quest types. More political intrigue with colorful factions. More adventure in a new land.

New economic system, which includes village / town development, a banking system, & new trade options. Players will have the opportunity to loan money, keep money on deposit, and arrange caravans.

Multiple endings to sustain player's interest and increase replayability.

Deeply researched historical component encompassing every aspect of the game's assets.

Ferocious new multiplayer action, bringing players the thrill of pitting old technology against the looming threat of firearms.

Not that i know of, I played M&B when they were an 8 man development team without a publisher, and never played warband. It was great and the huge modding commuity made it epic.

wasn't the last one horrifically buggy?

It does tend to crash quite often, i just came back from playing warband less than 5 minutes ago, i think it crashed 3 times in the last hour. It only crashes in towns and villages for me and never in combat so i always make a habit of saving before entering somewhere

I will definately be buying this even if it turns out to be a bit buggy

Game engine looks identical to me. The new features dont look any different than whats already available in mods. Quite a disappointment.

At release. Was quickly patched up.

Nope. Been playing the original since early beta (cost me about a fiver in 2005-ish) and it's always been pretty stable. Can't remember a single crash from then up to Warband.

However, I'm not that taken by this new incarnation. I'm more looking forward to the eventual release of the LOTR mod The Last Days for Warband.

Excited is an understatement. I am getting so much playability from the current one. It was my best buy of the christmas sales.

Ah, so at last they're moving in to the 'real world' and with guns! :D Shame about the apparent focus on cavalry and the Eastern European setting, but I won't knock 'em too much for that.

All we need now are the modders to add in the rest of Europe and away we go. As for the bugs and stuff, my version seems pretty solid, it's only when I get a bit carried away adding too many mods that things go a bit nasty.

This game has been around for over a year iirc?

CD Projekt has announced a spin-off called Mount&Blade: Ogniem i mieczem (translates as With Fire and Sword), based on the historical novel With Fire and Sword by Henryk Sienkiewicz,[31] developed by Snowberry Connection, Sich Studio and TaleWorlds Entertainment. The game will be set in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the playable factions will be Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Sweden and the Crimean Khanate. The planned release date was Fall 2009[32] in Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Russia and the Czech Republic.[33]. It was released on December 4, 2009.

It's based on the original Mount&Blade engine and there was a free mod based on the same novel/lore already in development when they announced this spin-off.

Well, the whole point of Warband, was the multiplayer fights, from the single player side, they just took the mods that were out there and made that vanilla, there was a firearms mod that was essentially this but with the map mostly based on original... Still I loved original and got it, sadly never got around to getting warband, but this looks very interesting. Maybe by the time it comes out, I would be interested.
