Household items - 10KG!

10kg of snack foods. You can transfer the food to your stomach as you go and you'll still be carrying the 10kg by the end. :D

Nijmegan march training starts tomorrow.

Make sure when you put the sack of rice in your backpack that it is a tightly packed as possible so that the rice doesn't begin to settle to the bottom and begin to pull down on your shoulders. This will put strain on your back. I normally tie it up.

Pack a proper bergan, how you should for tabbing, having rice, water dumbbells ect is dead weight and will eventually all sit at the bottom of the bag pulling your shoulders back. Prep the bergan how you will need it for the march, so food, water, sleeping bag, med kit ect, I have done the march a couple of times, i have done 100s and 100s of miles of tabbing, and to many people go ill prepared.

I don't believe Begbie has the stuff available to him to do so. A 10kg sack of rice would be fine as long as it is tied properly so as to separate the rice into sections, so it looks like a duvet for example.

Put the sack of rice into the backpack and then using string tie it tight at regular sections down the bag, this will evenly distribute the weight without having to pack a full kit bergan.

Full kit is only 20kg? I assumed it would be nearer 30?:)

It is somewhere in between depending on loadout. There is a 12 miler that requires a 31kg kit loadout. (those figures don't include your weapon which you also have to carry. which is another 5-6kg) Also everything has to be done within a specific time limit and in most cases in formation.

There is the bottom field where you have to complete the course in full kit, and carrying another marine also in full kit....That is really fun.
