Right, pretty bemused right now. Been building for years and never had a hardware issue like this. Using a working PCI-E HD 5870.

When POST, get RED vga light in the first PCI-E x16 slot and nothing shows on the screen. Move the card to the 2nd slot (which i believe is only 8x), and it works and POSTs to bios no issue. Not installed the OS yet due to these issues.

Loads of issues with this board across the net and am close to RMA, but wanted to post here to see if anyone else had the same issues or could recommend a fix and/or think that it may be a MB issue.

BIOS updated to 1253, via two other revisions and none had any affect. Tried the RAM (DDR3 Crucial C9 - On the "LIST") by switching and only one stick etc.

I welcome your advice

Steve

ps - Its worth noting that i was running a Q6600 before on same PSU so power should not be an issue as draw of a 2500K is less.

i had the same issue in another intel board but as it was an old mobo i just used it in the other slot, are you sure the other slot is only x8 i thought they were both x16 unless you stuck 2 cards in then it dropped to x8 on each slot.

i'd try another pcie card in the slot first if its the same problem rma it, considering its a new mainboard, are there any options to change the vga boot order ? i vaugely remember a main board i had in the past and you had to tell it to boot from which slot first.

There are lots of posts on this forum with people who have the same problem just read thru them to see what you can try first before you rma the board.

Yeh cheers bud, i did read a load of the posts and talk of BIOS updates and voltage tweaks to mem. Tried thoses and still the Card does not work in slot 1

have you done a full bios reset. i.e take the battery out for 5 mins.

That cleared up any issues I had, not that I had any to begin with.

Yep Full bios reset on several occasions, seems it is just stubborn on the the first PCI-e. RMA it is. Have spent enough time on this now, not to mention spending an hour trying to put HDD's in my stupid caddy. Kept dropping the mounting screws down into the caddy's innards!!

I have had this issue all weekend on release bios and 1003. Sorted this out with swapping the memory slot to A1 - B1 from whats reccommend in the manual for A2 - B2. After doing this the cold boot/double posting went away. I have not updated to the next bios but im able to run at 16000mhz after doing this with 8gb (2*4gb sticks) with a 4.6ghz overclock 100% stable

Just got RMA, so have ordered a UD4. Spoke to chap in returns who was very knowlegable. One other person has exactly same issue as me, but more interestingly, they are recieving a glut of returns for P67 chipsets accross all manuafacturers. Always the same for the early adopters he said. . .
