Sweetest M3 ever or not...?

The one and only difference is the size of the cheque book.

well no not really

That spoiler is a replica of the one used on the M3 GT2 i posted above.

The guy is apparently planning to take it to roughly 40 track days a year.

Given that it obviously serves a purpose (otherwise bmw wouldnt use it on their GT2 race car) and he's put it on because he intends to use it on the track its not a pointless chav mod.

You can argue as to whether you like the look or not, but one thing its not is chav.

It looks utterly disgusting as a road car, almost as bad as that guy with the gold Rolls Royce. I'm hoping it's more a case of function over form

Edit - just seen Mr LOL's post - the planned track days would explain it!

Those red wheels do not go with that paint colour, if it was bright green or something crazy with different colour wheels I think it would look bit less odd.

Only half a cage too? Hmm..... all or nothing IMO.

MrLOL WTF are you talking about, this doesn't even look anything like the race car. You are talking as if it's some kind of rock solid fact when its actually nothing more than (poor) assumption.

i've realised i've found a tuned car which calls itself the GT2.

Just trying to find a cost for the proper GT2 race car. It won't be cheap that much we can be sure.

*edit*

Heres a GT4 one for sale

http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/34871/BMW_M3_GT4_2010_BMW_Motorsport.html

Thats 100,000 euros 2nd hand.

God knows what a GT2 one would be.

*edit 2*

This article has the most info on the M3 GT2

http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/09/09/car-feature-gt-gt-ultimate-bimmer-the-m3-gt2.aspx

No price however. Given a GT4 is 100,000 euros 2nd hand, i think the GT2 could easily have cost 200,000 euros when new. And there don't appear to be any 2nd hand ones up for sale anywhere. Unlike the GT4 ones.

I don't quite understand what you're getting at MrLOL?

Looks to me like he's just prepped it for track, the same way as a lot of track focused cars.

Minus the decals, steering wheel and wing, add a lip spoiler in its place and that is absolutely perfect.

My survey says win.

silver + red = fail

might not be quite chav but its what a chav with money might do , mostly the colour scheme

looks good from the back but thats because you cant see the awful red bits :(

replace all the red bits with polished bits and its a winner

That realisticly he's done the next best thing to buying a GT2 Race Car. Like you say, buying an E90 M3 and track Prepping it.

Had he bought a real GT2, people would be fapping over it left right and centre.

yet it would still have the same "chav" mods.

They would argue that its fine because its a race car, but that's exactly what he's trying to make.

Pretty sure you don't get chavs in America... :p

Last thing I thought was chavved up. It's obvious he hasn't got/chosen those parts/look from circuit city for turning up at the local mc donalds car park on a saturday night.

Also Martin D sounds like one hell of a rich dude.

Of course you do: what do you think the expressions "trailer trash" and "white trash" are used to describe?

As to the original question, the car was fine until some idiot broke the suspension.

M

Trailer trash isn't Chav. Had the same discussion with an American friend of mine. But anyway, that car is still Chav; just a Chav with lots of cash.

Is it trying to go for the DTM look then? :o

No, DTM cars are wide things with loads of flared aero bits, that M3 has red 5 spokes, a non DTM style rear spoiler and a front splitter. Nothing DTM about it at all.
