Audi S4 (B7) vs Audi S4 (B8)

True but if we used that take on things any comparative discussion between two cars would be worthless? Whilst I agree comments like 'The S4 is a pile of ****' from somebody who drives a Kia Rio would be nothing short of hilarious, I don't really think anything said in this thread is particularly out of place.

If I felt the S4 was a thoroughly decent car then I'd buy one - I don't, so I won't, and I'll happily comment on what I think about it.

Good for you.

Bad day? Don't imply we have no right to an opinion and then get funny about it when I explain why we have. It's hardly on the same page as saying a Porsche is rubbish, is it?

Besides - it's the OP who said the 3.0T was yawn, all the rest of us have said is that S4 isn't the M3 rival some people assume it is.

I didn't say anything of the sort, you read it wrong. My point was don't dismiss a car that to all intents and purposes is a bloody good car from what I am told this time around (hence the reference to perspective), much better than the previous model I have often called a pile of poo...

I've just noticed these have been out for 18 months already! Haven't seen one yet. Although perhaps I did, and assumed it was a 2.0 TDI S-Line.. ;)

Oh please no :( Please :( No :(

It's not quite that bad. After less than 20,000 miles my Touareg has eaten 3 gearboxes (one while it was still at the dealers after they had 'repaired' it) so VW Finance have offered me a very (very, very) good deal on an A4 Allroad instead. Basically it's a jacked up A4 Quattro Estate with lots and lots of grey plastic stuck all over it. But it's manual, so the gearbox won't disintegrate every time I drive it, which is more than I can say for the 8-speed catastrophe in the Touareg.

Oh the All Road isn't so bad, it isn't quite as generically dull as the A4 S-Line (Do they actually do other trim levels any more?) because it has a party piece.

(PS. I would love a 335i but have experienced not getting to work in the bad weather with a 330i, which isn't an option due to £ per day lost, so do want the quattro)

If you stick a set of winter tyres on the 335i it will get through most the snow covered roads. I lived in Prague and took my 335i skiing in the winter in really bad mountain roads and it was fine.
