Creative Vs Asus My Opinions.

The main problems i had with my Audigy 4 was crappy drivers. Some of the features in the UI would regularly fail to work. Options would be greyed out one day, then be selectable the next day. I would get regular error messages 'so and so has failed to start', and i tried it on a fresh install and a mature install.

Also a set of cambridge soundworks 5.1 speakers have failed. The rear speaker channels have stopped working. Tried swapping plugs about and everything like that but nothing. Was working one day, stopped working the next. That was on my Xonar card though.

I've been happy with my Xonar DX for over a year so far with little to no problems.

I have the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Champion Series and it works well, as it should considering the price. The CMSS 3-D is very nice and gives good surround sound over stereo headsets. The front panel is useful as well for plugging in microphone and headphones, saves going round the back.

I also have the Creative Fatality HS-800 Gaming Headset and they are also good. Very comfortable and sounds good along with the sound card. Though sadly the microphone recently broke so they will be replaced. Also a good excuse to buy these :) when they are available.

The drivers from Creative are sadly very rare, though I haven't had any major issues that needed fixing anyway.

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium here never had a problem with it and before that had an Audigy and never had a problem with that too, only reason I updated was because the gameport was not compatible with windows 7 anymore and sold it and purchased a new usb joystick and while doing that I decided to update to a new soundcard and speakers.

I'm using X-Fi Fatl1ty Titanium at the moment on Windows 7.

After using the previous Fatal1ty on Windows XP i must say...I'm not entirely happy.

Creative really don't seem to update the drivers/apps as much as they should and the X-Fi software on W7 is annoying. (on XP I could have iTunes on with 2.1 speakers/headphones selected, then switch to 5.1 for my speakers without an issue....on W7 iTunes needs to be restarted to use all 5.1 channels). I will say the sound is good, but I don't have a front panel with the version i bought (debating getting a separate but the lack of ability to change to any mode OTHER than game mode is annoying.)

That supreme X-Fi mini card came with my mobo, absolute pile of garbage.

I think that's iTunes being lame... I noticed it does that too since I updated it on my XP partition, I dual boot and have both XP and Windows 7 and itunes since updating it has behaved little strange recently regarding it will sometimes give sound out and other times need to restart it.

well i'm glad its not just me

i find that i can go from 5.1 to 2.1 fine listening to itunes BUT if i go 2.1 to 5.1 i only get it in 2 channels instead of all 5 and therefore need to restart. some other programs dislike speaker configs being switched and will produce no sound after the switch and need to be restarted

You can't really blame that on creative to be fair though. On my Xonar DX, if i change the speaker config from say headphone to 5.1 or whatever, i have to restart mumble otherwise i can't hear anyone and they can't hear me. It's strange as they can't hear me because i'm using a usb mic which isn't even connected to the Xonar)

I would blame the app personally.

Finally someone who agrees with my on the Gigaworks T20/T40!! I find it hilarious that people suggest them for "awsome bass" just makes me laugh at how stupid some people are.

i had my t40 under a week because people said they were bass heavy for the size of them !

worst speakers ive ever had and went back to logitech.

i think ill have a look out for a asus card now.

im having some weird issue's with my creative card at the moment so will take a gander on the members market.

ah well, in that case i'm mistaken :)

good old itunes......going back to winamp now that my ipod is broken

Creative soundblaster X-Fi user here, i have always used creative and never had any sound or game breaking issues (it's usualy the game that is broken, or breaks lol). I can't fault the creative ASIO drivers-the latency is is spot on for my AXIOM 25 midi controller recording sessions. Although, i would like to try every other soundcard out there :D.
