New Black Mesa Images?

This mod is taking so long. If you do some googling you can actually download the pre-alpha version. I tried it and the levels that were done seemed a lot better vs the original if you ignore the pink blobs from missing textures and distortions from sector misalighnment. Really tho I just wish it was done now so I could play it properly. Its the only thing stopping me buying and playing the original half life again. Anyhoo hopefully fingers crossed it be finished in a year or two.
 
What is taking this mod so much time. I know its a lot of work but this has been going on for ages. Will be released within 18months or might it take longer?
 
I believe they were hoping for a release before christmas last year, but they put it back again. If only they could tell us why! Same for EP3 tbh!
 
Well, DNF will be out before we get to play BMS, now that would make me really laugh :D

Throwing Ep3 in the mix too!

Because they are not working on it full time and they are building the game from scratch in the source engine which includes them making most of the assetts from scratch including audio.

No surprise it is taking as long as it is.

To call it a "mod" is unfair as it is not one. It is a new game being built from the ground up which happens to be similiar to one released many years ago.

They are not simply replacing textures or changing .ini files.

Toward the end of 2008, they announced they were nearly finished, and might have it ready by the end of the year.
Middle of 2009, they announced that it would DEFINITELY be released before the year was over.
At the end of 2009, they apologised for letting people down, and said there were a few things holding them up that stopped them from making it in time for the end of the year.
During 2010 they made no announcements, and stopped giving progress reports.

If it ever gets released, I'll give it a go, but I have no real expectation of it happening.
 
Strange that i might get to play DNF before this :p


They should have released it in sections, like splitting it up into 3 acts.

Sounds like they were trying to re-confirm for themselves that people were still interested.

they're doing a job that normally takes hundreds of thousands/millions of dollars and a minimum of a year with a full team.
 
Also eagerly awaiting this. It’s such a big job even Valve wouldn’t do it and went with the half-life Source that came free with HL2 instead. They’re not getting paid for it and when I tried to donate to it I couldn’t even see a donate button on their site.

If people complain that Valve – with their millions in hat-takings take so long to finish games, how much harder it this for these guys?
I think it will be worth waiting for.
