Have terrorists just landed at Stansted?

If it was landing at LHR why not just continue the journey?

To make an approach to Heathrow, it is necessary for hte aircraft to pass overhead central London at a few thousand feet. When a passenger on board claims to have a bomb he is going to explode, overhead central London usually isn't the best place to put a plane!

Don't escorts usually break off like a few miles from the destination? or do they go all the way - in this case seeing the PJ all the way to the airport?

Depends on the situation. If the threat has not been confirmed neutralised before, they will escort it until it is on the tarmac and hang around.

Makes sense. VIPs and prisoners with the same kind of treatment when it comes to escorts then - depending on which VIP :p

London Today just said it was a 37yr old British national who was making threats and being disruptive. Airport is back to normal.
