Have you ever been mugged?

Had a few incidents...

Had some boys rob a computer game from me when I was 7, they were about 9/10 years old... Just searched my pockets, laughed and left me panicking at telling my mum how I now owned somebody a new £30 Sega Megadrive game.

When I was 12 my bike was nicked outside my friends house, but my friends dad caught somebody with it and got it back for me. But this same lad saw me on said bike while I was riding down the street, and told me it was his... So basically kicked me off it, and told me tough luck. Couldn't do much, as again he was a few years older than me.

The above incidents were in Thamesmead, London, although I had 2 boys try and search my pockets on a train when I was at Barnehurst going back to Bexleyheath. Basically said empty my pockets or I'll knife you, although I called their bluff and said do you even know who I am? They looked a bit confused, told me to go into the next carriage and they would rob somebody else. I was pretty lucky as I had a very expensive (for the time) mobile phone in my pocket which was worth about £300.

I have, I was mugged and stabbed by three guys in Tottenham Hale about 2 years back. It was a work day and I was at lee valley techno park doing some development work. I went out to get some lunch at the shell garage opposite Tottenham Hale station and decided to walk back through the park as it was the middle of the summer.

As I was walking through the park three lads approached me from behind, I felt a hand in my pocket and turned round to confront the guy, just as I was resorting to violence another one stabbed me in the thigh from behind. I proceeded to argue with the guys while bleeding on the floor. By this time a colleague had noticed what was happening and had called the police. I went to hospital was stitched up and then went back to work... The scum, well they left with nothing... not a great day.

Edited for massive ammounts of spelling mistakes.

Ive been surrounded by 5 people when i was younger (11/12) i just walked through and they shouted in my ear untill i got inside, luckily it was 1 minute from my house, i wont lie i was **** scared for ages of leaving the house.

Ive also been head butted, while i was at school by the brother of a friend of mine. luckily i saw it coming and he didnt hit me very hard. i pushed him away and walked on.

After that i took up martial arts as i was ****ed off with people thinking i was an easy target.

Worst would have to be in spain, drunk walking back from a club and 4/5 lads on bikes surrounded me, i get punched in the face but throw a few punches myself before they kick the living **** out of me, curl up into a ball and hear "ALEX NOOOOOOOOOO" From my mate running up the street who i can only describe as the skinniest stereotypical geek in the world.....then they run off.......talk about feeling like you have had ya manhood taken away lol

Never been mugged,or jumped. Then again,I don't walk around with a big 'V for Victim' sign on my head.
And,I'm poor. :p

Does the V stand for Virgin instead? :P

Joking aside i honestly believe its all about how you carry yourself, and ofcourse if your falling over drunk.

Got surrounded by 7 charvers once (i don't say chav since im from Newcastle). At first it was just one asking for some 'bus fare' but i said i didn't have any money.
The kid infront of me actually looked scared because i was quite a bit bigger than him.
Then the rest of them came and stood around me, grabbing an umbrella thing from the pub to block the cctv. One of them saying "just hit him".
Most of them had brown ale bottles which are pretty tough so i didn't fancy getting smashed in the head with one of those.
All for the sake of like 40p...

Went out after with my Dad because we knew where they would be, but there was so many of them that we didn't bother. If it was just a few it would have been fun to scare them and get my 40p back or even have a scrap with my old man. But we just left it.

Seen one of them the next day when i was walking home from school, just one by himself walking with his face staring at the floor.
Could have got my own back, but i didn't see any point since the next day i would probably be walking home just to get into a fight.

Apart from that i never really get much bother, quite a size so its only ever bark and no bite. Never been beaten up.

Been followed home from work twice when i've lived in Middlesbrough for uni.

I have been picked pocket twice.

1 - was in daylight under the neon sighs in Piccadilly, he had his hand in my backpack when I turned around and I caught him. The only thing in there was my map so he got nothing.

2 - Rome last November, I don't even remember it being taken, the wallet was in my mag zipped up. Lost about £150 in cash, and all my cards were cancelled so no money taken from account....but was tricky checking out of the hotel as I cancelled all my cards, includnig the one I used to pay for the hotel!

Got in a taxi after a night out, on the way home going over speed bumps in an ethnic area of the city when the car behind flashes. The taxi pulls up I ask him what he has stopped for when 4 Pakistani youths get out of the car. 1 opens the door and hits me, which was very painful thanks to his love of sovereigns. They hold me up against the taxi and demand money for the taxi so I get a load of change like £5. They throw me to floor and I get another whack from this scum bag. He then demands more money so I give him some more and start to walk off I get about 10 yards away when 1 run and hits me again. I made my way home with a sore head and cut lip but thinking I was rather fortunate.

A lot of effort for around £10 change though. Must have been saving for another sovereign ring from Argos.

Yes, at knifepoint when I was about 16. I actually lied and said I didn't have any money and they left without checking.

I genuinely cant believe how many people on here have been mugged. I lived in West Bowling and then just outside Ravenscliffe (People from bradford will understand) and I have never been mugged. I'm 6ft and 13 stone now but until I was about 19 I had no size to me whatsoever.

:o Genuine shock

Did have a fiend try and con me out of £18 last week in Newcastle city centre . He tried to convince me that it'd cost £11.90 on the bus plus £6.90 on the train to get back to Gateshead, by quickly showing me a receipt for a week's bus pass and a random train ticket. Being that I'm still new to the area, he must have assumed I didn't know that Gateshead was literally a mile or two away. He then tried the old "Give me you phone number/I'll give you my phone number and I'll pay you back" line that I've seen people here have had attempted on them in the past. I told him to jog on quite publicly in front of Central Station with loads of passers-by, Police about etc.

In reflection I should have walked over to an officer and reported it, but at the time I was merely concerned with putting as much distance between myself and him as possible. That's the scary thing about connoisseur's of fine injectables, they're so desperate for a hit that they'll do just about anything to get it, including pulling a needle/knife etc.

I remember when people in Newcastle only used to ask for 20p.

I came back home from uni one weekend and it had went up to 50p.

Then recently its a quid!

Its funny how their prices go up with inflation. Yet they still get "Nah mate sorry, haven't got any change."

Even though i've said that and bought a metro ticket straight after once, don't think he was best pleased.

Studying in Newcastle Funktopus?

was this in newcastle? i live in the west end up near stanhope street which is suposed to be a bad area but ive never had any bother in 10 years , dont see any groups of lads on the streets etc :S

in nottingham wherre i grew up there were always gangs of 16-19year olds hanging about and if you didnt know them you were likely to be targeted

I have been mugged twice, I say twice, the second was more like an attempted mugging.

First time was quite distressing, I was pretty young (14-15) and the only thought that went through my head was "****!", I handed over what little cash I had and the guy still gave me a beating.

The second time wasn't so distressing and was over pretty quick, I must have been about 20'ish, some solvent abusing junkie pulled a screwdriver on me and I punched him in the face, he dropped like a sack of ****, scrambled to his feet and ran.

Neither mugger were of "ethnic" decent, but both were scumbags.
