ive been after windows 7 and have been watching windows 7ultimate going for roughly £50 to £60.

the listings say it is sealed with both 32 and 64 bit discs.

why so cheap and are they copy's ?

What kind of listings are they? Are they business listings selling multiple copies, or individual copies sold by regular sellers?

Buying a "dodgy" license is honestly no better than downloading yourself an illegal copy.
Either buy a proper license (and you know a proper license is going to be more than £50) or don't bother.
Don't give somebody £50 - £60 for them to give you something you could have got for free - ie, not a legal license.

My dad got a full retail sealed Windows 7 Ultimate off the bay just before XMAS. He paid about £80 if i recall corrrectly. I was convinced it wouldnt be genuine but when it came it looked real enough and it activated ok.

eBay would soon remove the listings if they were fake dodgy copies based on user feedback.

You reckon? I have reported quite a few powersellers over the years to Ebay for selling conterfeit goods and they are still on there today.

All you get from Ebay is send it back for a full refund from the seller.

They don't care as they are getting loads of Ebay fees from the retailers.

The last conterfeit thing I bought which was so obvious (the GB instructions were in Russian!) the seller just claimed to Ebay that they had been assured when they bought them that they were genuine so send it back for a refund.

Fair enough except that every day they had listings still up selling the same "non genuine" items. I reported a few to Ebay but they were never pulled.

So unless Microsoft asks fro Ebay to pull them down, don't expect Ebay to do anything.

Contrary to popular belief on here, Ebay is not full of scammers in my experience.

I bought a 2nd copy of retail W7 Professional for my HTPC for £66. It arrived fully sealed and looked exactly the same as the copy I got from the purple shirt shop on pre-order.

I have not had problem with activation at all.

There will of course be some dodgy stuff there but if you are vigilant and look at the feedback and adverts properly its pretty easy to spot that something is not right.

They've been selling 'em on eBay for at least a month now. I saw them when I purchased my CPU off there.

Way too cheap though. Even if it did activate I'd still be waiting for a pop up some time later to declare that there is a problem with my key and suggesting I contact MS customer support. :D

If anyone knows of any obviously "wrong" EBay adverts for software then please let me have a link to them.
I'm part of the EBay Reporting scheme (My official department is CD/DVD/Blu-Ray) but I can make reports from any department.

Not wishing to show off or anything, but my reports do get looked at as a priority because I'm part of the scheme.
