Hello all. I have just had my machine returned to me following an RMA where the motherboard was replaced. The old mobo was Asus p6x58d-e and the new one is a Sabertooth X58.
The problem I am having is when i put my HDD back in the machine it blue screens when booting into windows 7(32 bit). As it is a different mobo, I dont know why it wasn't swapped for the same model??

The error is:
"a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time"
I can boot into safe mode only. Can anyone advise if there is something i should be doing to get this to work?

Thanks in advance :)

thanks for the quick replies.

I was hoping i wouldnt have to reinstall, as it takes ages to get all the applications back and get everything just the way i like it:(

both the mobos are Asus and pretty much exactly the same spec, even the components are the same ...sound/network adapter ect. I was hoping a few tweaks would fix it.

Once you've got your build on and are happy with it use Ghost or something to take an image so in future you can just image it.

If you don't have ghost use BartPE on a USB hard disk or hirens bootcd and a USB harddrive.

There are a few utilities out there which will inject new drivers into the OS and thus correcting your issue.

I created an image off the HDD just before the mobo was replaced using Win 7 to create a VHD image. but i wont be able to use that now. Hopefully If i have to rebuild I can get my files/info out of that.

I checked that, the drives are set to IDE which is what they were before.

Do you have any idea on which utility is a good one...(im going to start googling that now, not easy browsing in safe mode. haha):D

Bit more info, i looked at the bluescrren dumpfiles and it seems to be crashing on intelppm.sys:confused:

Yes, I use Macrium Reflect with Additions... fantastic little company with a great product. I have used Additions to migrate across to a different hardware platform....

Their website is: www.macrium.com :)

Hi all.

I have got it working now.
logged in safe mode and removed all devices from device manager. when i restarted windows re-installed all the drivers and hey-presto it works :D

The only thing now is one of the graphics cards is showing up as not working...Hmmm

Thanks for all your help and advice :)

Just do a clean reinstall tbh, that way you know there isn't anything left hanging around that might cause problems.

All you needed to do was change the disk controller to Microsofts "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" and you would have been ok :) You can do that in safe mode if you are lucky or if you manage to, do it before taking the old board out. Something to remember for next time.
