Goldring Headphones. You're Opinions?

I got the DR50's by reading about them on these forums with the Xonar DG from OCUK, would have got the cans as well had you stocked them. I use them mainly for gaming and I'm impressed with them, deffo value for money.

Thing is you would need to beat the price they are available at from other sources or be very close.

None other mate, been meaning to get one for a while so I'll probably chuck it into the basket next time I buy something :D

I wouldn't mind spending a little extra for the service, the place where I got my DR150s (and the DR50s for my brother) seems pretty reasonable however the NS1000 company, although improved drastically, has in my opinion some of the worst customer service and in cases like this I'd be willing to overlook a little extra cost for security.

The NS1000s that I've got are great, really surprised by the fidelity (for £50). 3rd year student sound engineer here so I've used a few sets whilst at uni to compare them to :)

Using ns1000's here, bought on the reccomendation of other forum users, no issues with them at all, cant reccomend them highly enough. Hopefully the bad examples of late are a blip.

Bang for buck, the fullsize Goldring phones are probably impossible to beat. It makes me cry looking at what others brands sell for, that offer similar performance.

well it depends, i have the NS1000s + e5 amp

i like the quality of sound and all. everythings great

but its kinda annoying..having to turn on/off the amp and ANR etc.
also it kinda took long to get used to. i wore the headphones for like 30mins and my ears started aching. (kinda like theres no air or something. =/

but yeah ..overall its quite good for the money =)

btw your selling headphones? definitely gotta check it out lol.
looking for a new pair for outdoor use.
any way of contacting you? or a site?

How do the NS1000s compare to the Beats by Dr Dre? I'm not thinking of getting one (at £240+? no thx) but I know many (5+ people) who own them and I dont really want to wear my NS1000s in public so the Dr Dre owners try and tell me that theirs is wayyyy better than mine.

According to What Hi-Fi Australia - the NS1000s are better. They cost about the same over there too!

Recently bought mine from a SuperFi. They sound amazing to me coupled with the E5 and Xonar DX.
They aren't the most expensive looking headphones in the world, they look like some cheap Tandy specials., but don't let this put you off.
They are small, but they are comfortable and best of all, they can be taken anywhere unlike the DR150's or HD555's.

I can see these having a very long life span.

I have the GX200 limited edition ( gold). People say they're fragile but so far they've lasted me over a year, I sit on them ( always in my back pocket) etc... But I do always keep them in the supplied case/bag... They DO feel fragile but they haven't broken, keep your receipt I guess...

With all respect, are there any reviews of the Goldring headphones from people who have owned other higher end headphones?

I'm not saying they're bad at all, but it's very easy to be wowed by your first set of expensive headphones.

Senn HD600, Audio-Technica ATH A900, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro any good to you? Have owned, borrowed or tested plenty of other headphones in or above the various Goldrings' price ranges.

It's not that Goldrings are that amazing really, it's just that they provide the sort of value for money you get with Grados or Audio-Technica in the USA. Practically every other manufacturer has a silly markup in the UK.

And yes, the NS1000s do belong in the same league as the headphones I mentioned above (although they're not at the top of it).

I own some HD600's, and while the DR150's aren't as good as the '600's, they;re not far off IMO...

Thanks for the feedback, will have to look at these as I'm interested in some noise cancelling phones. You have to play devil's advocate and the sceptic sometimes. :p

Do Sennheiser HD600s count?

Goldring NS-1000s are brilliant, I can't believe the low quality rumours that spread over the Forum recently and were taken for granted.

It's either a faulty one or differences in packaging and lack of burn-in period.

All that Goldring could have saved on is the quality of packaging and accessories.

The cable is made by QED and is 1m long only but that's pretty understandable when you consider that noise cancelling headphones are designed for travelling.

OcUK, definitely get some small batches in, see if they sell quickly enough to make a profit. We'll definitely support you from the marketing POV :D

Regarding the pricing, Goldring DR50 can be had for £30 inc, Goldring DR100 for £38, Goldring DR150 for £46 inc, Goldring NS1000 for £53 inc, all from reputable e-tailers.

I hope you can match these prices with 5% margin of error ;)
