Ideal cooler for Asus P8P67 with Vengeance RAM?

So far it seems like nobody has found anything that doesn't either cover a RAM slot or have to be mounted in a non optimal fashion ( e.g. Venom ).

Was wondering what people might have found that works well?

So far the only thing I've seen that might be a goer is the Noctua BH-D14, but that's rather spendy when I'm only looking to take it up to 4.5GHz or so from the 4.2GHz I have with the stock cooler.

What's "non-optimal" about the Venom then?

I thought you could add fans to it to have both push and pull airflow?

It's the one I have on my shortlist along with the Frio as I only need 2 RAM slots :)

I advised faicec to try some decent thermal compound - there's many users using the Venom who have said it's a good cooler.

Did I read that the H70 cooler is noisy though and 'may' leak over time??

Think reading that put me right off!

My Zalman CNPS9900-MAX Blue LED CPU Cooler don't cover any ram slots

"Noisy" is a matter of opinion. If the stock fans are too loud, we supply 2 cable resistors to lower the fan speed. Also, you can use aftermarket fans or a fan controller to further tune the db level, just like with any air cooler.

And yes, any liquid cooling system may eventually leak but, we make a very good cooler. Leak problems are very very rare.

I went from the Prolimatech Megashadow with 2 x Akasa Vipers to a H70 with the same Viper fans

Temps dropped almost 5 degrees and it looks MUCH tidier and doesn't interfere with 2 of my RAM slots

Highly recommended

yeah it is helpful feedback actually - An H70 and 2 viper fans totalling £110 to cool my CPU - It wouldn't cost much more to buy a replacement CPU if the cooling failed!!

I'll pass I think.

Another vote for the H50 here.

Yellowbeard as youre here, are the little foam pads that come with the kit essential? I only ask as i had to literally cut them off and leave them stuck to my old skt 775 motherboard because they seemed to to be superglued on. I ended up cutting them so i wouldnt break the backplate.

Well, the info is for the OP. And of course no one said it was mandatory to buy new fans. The stock fans work well. I think a stock or upgraded H70 makes a LOT more sense than sitting around waiting on a CPU RMA. ;)

And the OP mentioned that the Noctua at 70 quid was a bit spendy ;), so even the H50 is looking fairly expensive.

Only thing tempting me with the H50 is that it should be pretty painless to keep clean.

Indeed, I have some compound on order; I'm pretty certain that will sort out my temps. In all honesty, I'm pretty happy with the cooler, the mounting of the fan in the non-traditional method hasn’t appeared to increased temps following testing, however I'll confirm this once I've reapplied the compound.
