Crysis on very high

OK, so I installed an ATI 6950 and installed the demo of crysis.

Just to see what would happen I set everything to very high.
It played at a bearable frame rate (dont have a counter) for about 10/15min then when I was inside a building looking out through a window the entire interior of the building turned black and I could only see what was out the window.

Do you think another ATI 6950 in crossfire would resolve this.

I am aware Crysis on very high is expecting quite a lot but I just thought i'd ask.

I am currently using an Intel i7 6950 and 6GB RAM

Sounds like an overheating problem to me, or you are using bad drivers... and the only thing a second 6950 would do is increase the frame rate, the heat and the power usage.

I'd focus on why it's going black first. Do you have good case cooling?

I'd run MSI Afterburner in the background to monitor your graphics card. Secondly I'd run an artefact test to eliminate the issue of a dud card.

I have a coolermaster Haf X.

The card currently has:
Its own fan.
The side panel fan pointing at it.
The front red LED fan pushing air towards it.
The GPU air duct with a fan installed right behind the GPU (this is in front of the LED fan)

Is it likely that Crysis with everything at very high is too much for this card then (without say water cooling or overclocking)???

There's a chap on the PC games forum reckons you can max it on a 5770.

He's wrong though :D

Missing textures may be a driver problem. Also do you have the game patched to 1.2? This fixes a few things.

Well its just a demo as I wanted to use my new card lol, I ordered the full game and should get it this week, maybe its an issue wi the demo, once i get the full game il make sure its patched and what have you.

I downloaded the latest drivers of ATIs website.

The wierd thing is, when i enter the room everything looks normal, it was when i started shooting problems started.

There have been several 'poor driver' issues, amd rushed these out and havent fully sorted the software for them.

I dont think its hardware.

Plus you are running the demo... but what happens in that building if you go in there with a cold PC?

That case is very good so now doubting the overheating unless it's a card specific overheating issue.

Sounds like a driver issue to me. Crysis was fairly bad on ATi cards in the beginning, and with either my 5870 or GTX580 give me black specks on trees in some places even now.

Your 6950 should be enough to run it on very high (though you don't say resolution). The worst that should happen is a few dips in frame rate every now and then, definitely not whole rooms going black and not being rendered probably. I'm inclined to think that's an issue with the demo.
