Not sure if this should be in Home Cinema so I'll start here :D

Got £50/£60 to spend on a decent pair of earbuds. Will be worn about 2 hours/day and the output source is a Nexus S with DSP enhancements :)

Suggestions?

whatever ultimate ears fall into this budget, the live performance industry can't be wrong :)

I have a set of higher end ones and they are absolutely top notch (triple.fi 10s)

Ultimate Ears Superfi 5s are a good bet. Not too bassy out the box, but can easily be EQed to suit, which is better than being the other way around IME.

They used to be available for ~£40 from a competitor, so it's probably worth shopping around for a decent price.

Soundmagic PL50s are probably your best bet for your budget, I used to have a pair and would highly recommend them.

If you'd like to spend a little bit extra go for the Phonak Audeo PFE 012s, they're about 80 quid but sound outstanding.

+1

used to use Sennheiser in the same price range but found their build quality awful as well, bought a pair of these and the build quality is better (well not broken yet!) and the sound quality is awesome

Very happy with them :)

Surely it's earphones? Earbuds are what you put in to block out noise when you're trying to sleep.

If you want a pair of earphones that need to be RMA'd continuously.

Earbuds and in-ear monitors are two different things.

Generally, IEMs sound better and isolate better, but not everyone likes things jammed deep into their ears.
