Got myself a Kindle yesterday while i was out shopping with the wife. I decided on the 3g version in the end. Now that was £152 then they wanted £50 + for a leather case with a built in light!

I thought this was a tad expensive ?? so what case do you guys use on your kindle..is the leather one with light any good and worth that amount of money ??

I did see a knitted sleeve type thing although I could imagine it falling out ??

Really like the kindle though great little thing. I am in the middle of reading "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" as it was cheap at £2.49 lol..I am told it is a good read though:D

I wasn't too impressed with the £50 case & light either, and to be honest, I wanted a kindle because it is so portable and lightweight so I don't think putting it into a big ol' case is a great idea (for me anyway). A sleeve for protection and travelling, though, would be a good idea.

I bought a clip on flexi-light thing which is great, but clearly not designed for the Kindle 3 as it doesn't clip on very well.

I wrap mine in a microfibre cloth when not in use, better than nowt I suppose. Not bothered about having a case in order to hold and read. If I took it about with me though I would probably go for a neoprene sleeve of some sort also.

When I first got one I used a neoprene sleeve (unsurprisingly they smell like wetsuits :p). Then a couple of months later I took it out of the sleeve one day to find that the screen had broken. I have no idea how or when, but I had amazon call me straight away (9pm on Sunday, I think a call centre in America) and a new one arrived Tuesday free of charge, and I printed a return label to send the old one back free as well within 30 days.

At that point I decided to buy the leather cover, since the stiff cover will spread the load of any sharp impacts much better. However... there's an issue with the non-lighted covers, which is that the clip to hold it on is metal, and for some reason if the paint wears off it can short with something inside the kindle occasionally, which causes it to drain battery power and reset, losing your page.
So after experiencing this myself and then finding out what the problem was on the official kindle forum, I e-mailed them saying the cover wasn't fit for its purpose and referenced the forum threads, and they refunded the cost to me, without requiring me to send it back, so effectively I got the cover for free. :) I just need to put something non-conductive on the clips to make sure it doesn't happen again (thinking nail varnish).

The £50 lighted (I hate that word!) case is expensive but very good.
I procrastinated about buying it then bit the bullet and am very glad I did.

I bought the non light version but don't like the fit and don't like reading books with it on so I don't use a case. If I was travelling I'd probably store it in the case though

im using

TeckNet Kindle 3 Leather case cover for Amazon Kindle 3 / Global Wireless 6 inch / 15 cm (latest generation) Book Style - Black (rainforest supplied)

found it to be excellent. I fold the front cover over and then clip the magnetic clip inside if I want a single page type style.

Its not leather its fake but meh do you really care?

I bought the non light version and think it is great, nice feel though I also believe it to be overpriced. My mate has bought one of the hemp covers on the previously posted link, they are cheaper on Amazon.

I prefer my Kindle DX(and most other electronic devices) to be naked whilst I'm using them, so I use a TimBuk2 envelope sleeve made from ballistic nylon.

I've reinforced my case with some 1.5mm aluminium sheet backed with 4mm neoprene foam

Pictures a little out of date. The aluminium sheet now has a thumb cut out to ease removal of the KDX and I also tuck a small microfibre cloth in the case as well.
