Good airflow and quite case advice

Hi all,

I am looking for a new case to give very good air flow and to be quite "yes the best of both worlds" ;) I have bought a 6970 which I think is fairly loud and I will Xfire at some point.

I like the look of the Coolmaster cases 1/ HAV X and the Cosmos s ? I feel I am leaning towards the HAF X I do not want to go water cooling i think i will keep it air, But in saying that i was looking at this

Is this just a gimmick or is it a good way of cooling your CPU ? are big heat sinks with fans better ? with the Hydro H70 i like the way it looks very neat less bulk inside the case.

Any advice would be great I know it must get boring talking about the same thing :)
 
The corsairs are definitely not gimmicks.

As far as i've read the h70 is a good cooler but great when you do some crazy overclocks.

Here the h70 out performs the noctua d14(massive heatsink)

either way its good.

I was also leaning for a HAFX with hot swap features, wheels, side window and good cooling but I like the design of the DefineXL too much even though it doesnt come with any of the features i just mentioned.

my brother bought a corasir H50 and apparently after 4 weeks, one of the pipes melted and damaged his motherboard, in my method, i would use a case that has exhaust fans at the rear and intake at the front. air cooling is reliable on bigger cases, as the air has a lot of movement and its not sitting inside the case heating up. My honest reply is, get a water cooling system if your intent on overclocking ure CPU, and if u dont, then leave it with air cooling. :D

Yeh I seen that video quite a few times. :D

It does look amazing. But bear in mind the case comes only with a single front intake fan.

This means the airflow sucks bad, so I'm having to spend another £40 on just 3 case fans. A noctua case fan which goes for £17-£18 and two other fans costing tenner each. This brings the total to £140 for case and fans.

The HAFX is £130 with extra features like ive already mentioned.

Im going for the Define xl since its got some sound dampening and looks nicer, though hasnt received favourable reviews due to the single fan and some other "design flaws" but I dont see too many problems.
 
Really like the XL, and would like to see some reviews were the extra fans were fitted. 1x140mm to cool MB/GPU/CPU just isn't practical.

Also it does have two exhaust fans to suck out hot air which also comes with the case, I thought this would be enough :-0

I am now thinking more towards this product because it's reference to sound levels being very low which I would love :))
Silly as it seems I was getting exited about having a panel I could see all my lovely kit ;) but I think I would rather low noise level than the GLITZ ;)

So the XL case and buy an extra 140 mm fan for the front "could be a plan"
 
i got a coolermaster haf 912 plus and its airflow is incredible. got 2x 200mm fan 2x120mm fan and the front is fully gauzed. opening case makes no difference to temps so i know its getting good airflow

No 140MM for a full size tower is not enough, at all. It has 1 180mm exhaust at an angle, and 1 140/120mm fan as an exhaust in the standard place.

I think buying just another single 140mm fan wont be enough at least two more intakes with the 1 already installed sounds more of a plan.

I though have read the HAFX is very quiet with the 3 200mm fans and has good cooling.

My kit is almost 4 years old (see sig), but it runs everything pretty good. I was considering an upgrade but i really dont need it, probably need some more RAM and maybe an SSD or two but thats it.

But yet I'm hoping to get the parts soon, the define and the fans and 12v atx extension psu cable, maybe today.

Ill let you know how it goes. Maybe some pictures too.

Sorry to sound dumb are you saying Corsair's are a good Case option as well ?
I've been also looking at a Corsair 600t a midi case but large space for a midi case, looks very neat.
Or are you talking about fans ?
