Anything faster than a 5970?

GTX 580 possibly has better minimum frame rates in quite a few games, however I think the 5970 is still the fastest card available if you're taking average frame rates into account. The 6990 should be coming fairly soon though.

the 5970 is the fastest single card available right now. AMD are working on the 6990 at the moment (two 6970s), but all we have at the moment are fleeting screenshots of a guy waving one around at a conference. The GTX595 is still in the prototyping stage, so you have a while to wait I'm afraid

There's a ridiculous £1000 card called an Asus Ares. Two overclocked 5870 chips on one board with 4GB DDR5. I think that's the fastest out there.

depending on drivers and game and so on, but most of the time the scaling gave minimal gain.

crossfire and sli mostly excel at huge resolutions. so you can image what quad is like.

remember that a 5970 is 2 clocked down 5870's. also you can cross with a 5870/50/30, but not much point.

A 5970 with a 5850 gave large gains, matched what i could get with 2x 5970 in fact. (eyefinity res)
