H50 sticky pads

Are these needed or are they for sticking the backplate to the mobo? They do a very good job of sticking as i had to cut them away from the backplate when removing it from my old mobo.

i never use the sticky side and just leave the pad stuck to the bracket.

ive used the sticky pad before to attach it to my mobo but never again.

I left them off, they are handy to hold the backplate on place before screwing on the retaining ring but without them the backplate stays in place anyway if you are gentle enough.

I destroyed an expensive motherboard trying to remove some that came with a cooler once, never again. The H50 backplate stays on nice and secure once you have the ring bit screwed in.

Ah ok well my case has a cut out for the cpu area. I was only curious as to weather it was meant to act as a spacer.
