Whats Happened to 6800?

Well i'm just thinking that if the 6950 1GB will be competing with the 560Ti then maybe a price cut for the 6870 & 6950 would make them very interesting. But Why isnt overclockers stocking them? Is there a shortage or are they just not selling?

I thought it was because the older 5850 & 5870 gave better bang for buck.

AMD have announced they're no longer continuing with the manufacturing of the 5970 and the 5870 so soon the 5870 will go out of stock. As for only 3 6870s on the OCUK website I don't know. I think it's a mistake that they're taking them down..

True, but you can understand why people would be interested in them at the moment.

Agreed. After I bought my 6870 I kinda wished I bought the 5870. But then again the 6870 was newer, better tessellation features and it can support 3D, + 4screen eyefinity (not that the last 2 really matter). However the 5870 was a powerful card, it was nearing the end of its life and I've heard very good things about the 6870's crossfire performance so I don't regret it at all. But like i say, OCUK should seriously refill the 6800 page.

The HD6670 will have 480 shaders and 16 ROPS. This means it will have a decent performance boost over an HD5670. AFAIK,the HD5700 series is only rebranded as the HD6700 series for OEM sales.

My initial thoughts are that with the HD6950 1GB being released there's an expected price drop on the HD6870 and they're just waiting for this before they re-stock.
