Ok guys so as i have said before i'm in the process of building my first gaming pc, i have most of the parts (rest comming the end of the month)

But after doing some more research i worried about my cpu cooler not clearing my RAM here is what i have:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge)
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (Socket 1155)
G.Skill RipJawX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Cooler Master V6GT CPU Cooler

silly me ordered this stuff and just assumed the cpu cooler would fit and clear the RAM because it said socket 1155 compatible, but looking at pic's on the net i think this cpu cooler won't clear Dimm slot 1.

Thing is i've had this cooler for a couple of weeks now so can't return it ?

What can i do guys?

Do you think it will clear the RAM? or can i move the ram into other slots ?

Or will i have to order a new cpu cooler and ebay this one ?

Please advise guys

The RAM should be fine inserted in slots 2 and 4, although it depends on your motherboard I think. Either way, it shouldn't be too hard to return the RAM and buy some without those huge heatspreaders.

Well ive never had any trouble with doing it, although i'm not in a position to test it on your board, but I'm sure somebody on this forum has that mobo and would be only too happy to give it a try and let you know!

I actually just downloaded the manual for your MB and found nothing on what slots should be used for dual channel memory. On Gigabyte boards it is slots 2-4 and not 1-3. Presumably to allow for large coolers to be installed.

I presumed it would be the same for MSI, but you are saying otherwise. What section of the manual did you find this in?

Im lookin at page 2-7 and it shows a picture of 2 sticks of RAM in slots 1 and 3, then 4 sticks of RAM in all slots.

Under that it says

":To ensure a successful system boot-up allways insert memory modules into DIMM slot 1 first "

Either replace cooler or perhaps just peel off the heatspreaders on the ram. Ram seldom gets hot in a case with good airflow
