Most economical car for £1k (or less)

Using google maps it's 92 miles, takes 2 hrs 46 minutes and costs £17.35 in FUEL ALONE

Then there's the cost of the ferry..
Then there's the cost of the Congestion charge

Then rinse and repeat to come home..

You're off your trolley if you think that's a workable plan

Your view is quite clear to be honest.

Now everyone can see what your game is - that quote says NOTHING that you've said it says. It doesn't say every grad gets a grad job and it doesn't say that every grad earns £26k+ either. You've just made up both of these things as part of your really weird quest to have a pop at every opportunity.

Infact it even says:

The bottom line is that for some areas of IT, a degree is important. For others, it's less important and for some, it makes no difference

Whereas you said I said:

degree>experience.

It is also worth mentioning that the A3 can be a bit mental during peak times, something that I doubt google maps amounts for. Your fuel economy is going to drop off massively from about when you get to the robin hood roundabout when you officially go from A Road/Motorway bashing to City driving. The point is that you will not get 60MPG that was being played with earlier. In fact around town I think you'd be lucky to get half of that.

Does anybody know how much is a B&B within cheap commuting distance going to cost for the 3 days?

Back on topic.

Mike, have you thought about IoW ferry to Portsmouth and then the Portsmouth Harbour to Waterloo train? I'm not going to work out the figures but it definitely has to be cheaper than driving, probably less time consuming and far less stressful?

Blackhawk stop cosntantly editing your post with quotes from old posts of mine. It's irritating and it's doing nothing but showing you up.

Look at this from one of your quotes:

Your average grad finishing an IT degree and going into IT would be earning between £18k and £32k

You've just provided a quote which COMPLETELY disproves what you said when you said:

How about when you think every graduate automatically gets a graduate job at the end of their degree, and get £26-30k.

Seriously, what are you doing? You've just proved yourself wrong.

You've even quoted me saying:

Your whinging on about it is doing you a dis-service because you are not really doing that badly at all for somebody of 19!

But dont try and say that Uni is pointless, as it isnt.

What more do you need to do in order to demonstrate I'm being perfectly reasonable and you are going way OTT?

Remember - that thread went the way it did because you came in and told everyone in blanket fashion that a degree isn't worth doing because you can contract. Thats the context of the thread. Why you need to keep going back to it and going over and over and over it I've absolutely no idea. I wasn't even the only one with my opinion, you've even quoted others who agreed with me, why dont you go and harras them as well?

I'm not trying to argue the suitability of the trip any longer, but I've travelled the A3 many times at the times mentioned and the only real issue is Hindhead from about 8.30-9.30 on (which I'd probably miss), and 17.00-18.30 - although not for much longer, once that tunnel opens up, oh and Guildford coming back can add 10-15 minutes on.

I have, but train tickets seem ridiculously expensive, and we could not find much in the way of season tickets - I think last time we worked it out, it worked out around £30 a day for the train alone - hence why I current use the Greyhound coaches, which are £30 from my door to Victoria station.

Sorry but move closer to job or find job closer to work..

Don't play the "cost of moving" card either..

Own a house? Then sell it and buy one closer (smaller if necessary)
Rent a house? Rent a house closer.

Rocket science it is not and neither is a 1k car an option worth contemplating IMO.

I've already stated moving is not an option.

Why not?

It's a damn sight more suitable idea with the info you've so far supplied.

This is about saving yourself some money long term.

Spending upwards of £80 A DAY in travel costs alone seems an absolute non starter.
That's all I earn in a day

Such a hypocrite when you constantly slate people for spelling/grammar, and you seem to edit your old posts all the time.

You were a reason DiamondMark decided to leave.

Okay, my opinion, look for ex taxis...I've heard that they are dirt cheap.

You miss the point - edit all you want but constantly editing to put old quotes of mine in? Pointless. I'm hardly always on about spelling either, my spelling is terrible!

It's obvious you've got some sort of problem with me. Thats fine - I can't please everyone all the time, though I do feel your problem with me is more about what you THINK I say rather than what I actually do. This is a shame really because whilst I always speak my mind I'm usually pretty respectful. Have a look at those quotes of mine you spent so long digging up. Do I swear at you? On the contrary you'll find on several occasions I commented on how well you are doing to get where you did at your age!

Making things up is getting old fast - most of the things you accuse me of, I've never done - the quotes you provided simply supported what I said.

That aside this constant vendetta thing isnt healthy for the forum and all its going to do is make more people find you annoying which I'm sure isn't what you want - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18316282&postcount=8968 - have a read of posts like that. I'm sure you dont want people thinking that. He's not a member of the 'Fox Fan Club' or whatever it is this week either.

Just chill out - it's the internet. If you disagree strongly with somebody and you cannot argue with them in a civil and non childish fashion the next best thing to do is simply ignore them.

If you want in the name of forum peace if you agree to stop referencing me in every post you make, I'll agree to not reply to posts I think are silly, even if you are speccing an ice cream van in a hot hatch thread :p

Sound like a fair deal with forum peace and harmony in mind?

Ironically, I have found a local job advertising for a Junior Web Dev offering £22k (negotiable based on experience), It is a job I'd hope I could pretty much walk into with my experience and skillset - I'd just need to negotiate £25k out of them and I have a completely viable solution, if only for the short term, and it is literally a mile or two up the road.

Take the job for **** sake take the job. :D

Okay Fox, deal. ;)

Can I ask though, have I sworn at you before...? :(

I don't think you have actually. Whether you see it in my posts or not there is rarely ever an intention of malice. I just post what I think. Glad you agree we should move on, hopefully this issue can stop winding everyone up now :)
