Tax code has changed, im being taxed a lot more than what I usually am

a lot of companies provide private medical cover for employees. the employees get better care and the employer prob gets less time off being taken

the employer pays for it but the employee has to pay tax on the value of it

Im sure mine includes dental too

My new tax code is a K, Company car and medical insurance for myself, the wife and kids.
Medical insurance premiums have risen quite steeply, so I have to pay more next year :(

I do indeed, not sure what's suddenly changed in the past year for them to suddenly decide I need to pay more tax over it.

We had that issue with HMRC too except we were paying the tax ... eventually, after several years, it was sorted out between our payroll people and the tax man (it turned out we were getting taxed twice on it, once "at source" and once in our pay packets) and we all had to write to our tax office and get refunds for the years whether HMRC had it wrong ...

Would never surprise me if it's the sort of thing they have wrong for you too ...

WTF did you do to deserve that!?!?

Benefits in kind :D (and a proportion of unpaid tax from last year)

Although I knew the unpaid tax was coming so expected it and don't mind paying over a year. Also it's a M1/W1 code to be honest and I only got it in December.

Certainly makes a big difference to the net pay though

Exactly try K2151 :eek::(:mad:

 Yikes! :(

Mine suddenly doesn't sound so bad now... something like K200. Worst I've had imposed was K750-ish.

Usual mess up with my tax code is that they try taxing me on expenses payments because they "forget" to balance off the same value of costs incurred.

Last year, I received notification of 4 different tax codes in less than two weeks. I averaged a letter a day from HMRC for the fortnight.

Can I jump on this thread, My tax code has now changed agian to 469T and it was 550T last year, It says I'm still getting taxed for having a company car which I haven't since about July last year.

I rang up when it changed to 550T and they guy tried to explain to me that the tax is basically worked out over the year and this was fine, I was expecting my tax to go back to full allowance now considering I have no car yet it's gone down to 4690, have they ballsed it all up?

I'm gonna call them again and see wtf is going on but I would like a heads up.

they probably did it to see if you would notice,

x that 100 by two million people, say half notice thats 100million quid a month for a few minutes typing a SQL update query... boosts the repartment stats, and billions of extra money for wars and benefit cheats...

I would say a large % of people would notice a change in their pay packet.

Unless you are a high earner and just dont bother looking at it because "money is not an issue" in life.
