2GB versions are probably going to be even more expensive than the 2GB 6950's anyway. The more I look into it, the more I feel Nvidia hit the wrong price point.

Not necessarily. Look at the 'saving' to be had with the 1GB vs 2GB 6960. Wow, a grand saving of a tenner. Might not be as expensive as you think (though will be more expensive than a tenner extra - due to redesigned PCB).

I see, I will be capable of paying £240 for a non overclocked 2gb version.

While I admit that would be lovely, a fairly low priced 2 GB 560 would make many a gamer very happy, however it would be very hard to compare it to the 6950 2GB. Now, I throw my hands up that I'm more Green than Red, but from the looks of it the 6950 2GB seems to be the best £<250 card available right now.
