Vasectomy

The operation itself is pretty painless. You can't feel any of the incisions but you do get some mild discomfort as they tug the various internal bits about during the surgery.

I was pain free and driving as soon as I left the clinic and did the weekly shop before I went home. I guess if you have a gullible missus who can drive, you could do the old 'sore balls' routine to get pampered for a week.

The most painful bit was having to chase up the results from the 'after' samples, as the hospital took almost two months to finally deliver the all clear.

I had mine done in the dark ages of 1975 aged 25:

Drove there, local anaethetic, watched tubes being cut and then cauterised (smoke rising from scrotum wtf!) then drove home and went back to work the next day.

If you have (both) decided that you have finished having children, it is a good thing.

Fairly simple. Little injection which nips a bit. The actual op can feel a little uncomfortable. Mines was done in the local doctors, no need for hospital.

The only issue I had with mine was one of the stitches coming out a couple of days later leaving a perfect hole in my sack. I kept putting Savlon on it (was paranoid that I was just filling my sack with Savlon cream, lol) and it healed eventually.

Had one done 3-4 years ago after the birth of my 3rd child. Divorced now and wondering whether it was such a good idea. I've checked into reversals and up to 8 years on there is a 90% success rate. From that point the success rate starts dropping a bit. Can cost up to 2k though.

In terms of the procedure its a bit surreal, nurse chatting to me about my job while i can smell my tubes being burnt. Pain wise it was just a bit tender for a few days. Certainly nothing like the horror stories I'd heard.

All I'd say is think very hard before you get this done!

It was sorer than I expected, people said to me it was no bother, the nurse said "you will feel a little sting now, like a bee sting" when my tubes were cut, it felt like I had been booted in the balls. Only lasted a few seconds, but it certainly wasnt pleasant.

Other people feel nothing, I think it was due to my enormous testicles that I had the pain.

!

I was told there is only a 25% success rate with reversals, Id have still have had it done even if it was a ZERO percent success rate, I 100% dont want any more kids & I was single when I had it done.
To the OP I didnt feel much pain at all, worst bit was when he was injecting anesthetic and even that wasnt that bad, go for it.

It's all keyhole surgery now isn't it? I doubt you'd feel much discomfort.

now you say that. i had something similar last week. more varicose vein removal in my left nut, they went in through the left hand side of my groin then down, its bloody sore lol im still struggling with getting up and down due to them going in through a muscle you use for everything, from coughing, sneezing, pooing, sitting up, rolling over in bed its all hard work. but its getting better :) just weird carrying around a cricket ball in my sack lol

now im not sure on the difference in procedure but cant see there being a big difference.

Only complaint I heard was that chicks say the can't feel them wriggling about in their mouth after a guy has had the operation.

As for pain, yes it is sore, kinda like getting a tooth out.

When I got mine the guy before me ran out the surgery naked and down the corridor with nurses chasing him, was very funny....... IO wish I had took a video on my phone.

It may well be that low after 12+ years but its definitely 90% success up to 8 years after the operation.

Thought I'd throw my experience in....

Got a local injection on my left side, then they moved stragiht to the right side and did the same.

Then, without pause, they started to work on the left - was absolute agony (felt like having some plunger pushing down on your inside), but only lasted a couple of minutes. By the time they moved to the right side the local had kicked in and felt absolutely nothing.

No real pain after tbh, though I've heard some bad stories from others. A little uncomfortable is all.

One thing I wasn't prepared for (and having dicussed this with another vasec "customer", I hope it is accurate) - but afterwards the ends of the tube kind of curl up at the bottom of each ball, like a big lumpy mass. Checking for the big C made me a little worried feeling all this stuff - and tbh I still worry that maybe I wouldn't be able to feel any lump that did develop.

Enjoy, it's a wicked ride :)

Did you not tell them to stop? Or did you go all alpha male and keep schtum?

I had mine done 5 years ago.

On the morning of the op you shave your sack and they gave me some anesthetic cream to rub on and a big plaster to cover the whole thing.
This numbed it well and I didn't feel when they stuck the needle in for the local.

About 7 years before I'd had a testicle torsion where the tubes wrap around the ball (had to have an op to sort it out), that meant one of the tubes was a lot bigger than expected and they had to get a senior doc in to sort it out.

They didn't put any stitches in, the cut was only 2cms max.

Worse this was wearing tight briefs for a week after!

Don't do it. Really.

I am very very very against having kids and have always been careful so that there have been no 'mistakes'. Any girl I've spoken to says it makes a man less attractive because they're not "all there", even the ones who didn't want kids themselves.

Just be careful and don't rely on an operation which is not even 100% guaranteed.

Surely this depends on your situation, if you're a married man with three kids and you and your wife agree that you don't want anymore then this procedure is perfect for that.
