Best game ever.

Pick 1!? Its not allowed, Cant do it. Its between 3 games and there's no way to choose.

MGS1, Resident evil 2 and Final fantasy 7.

Narrowing those down just cant be done.... IT CANT I TELL YEEE

Having just completed it again, I can say with confidence that Resident Evil 4 is the best video game I have ever played. It just blows almost everything right out the water. Every section of the game poses a new challenge, there is just so much variety in the level design, even if you are essentially still laying waste to zombies and monsters left right and centre. Off the top of my head, the highlights include the incredible opening scene in the village, the hedgemaze and the bosses... oh my god the bosses!!!!! They are just incredible.

And furthermore, the game just keeps on going and going, so much damn effort must have gone into making this game because it never feels repetitive and always keeps you on your toes.

I played a bit of Red Dead Redemption over xmas and was impressed, but to me it's not even in the same league. I only mention this as RDR was IGN's game of the year. Here's the IGN review where they gave RE4 a whopping 98%:

Wow. I had some pretty high expectations for Resident Evil 4 and to my complete surprise the title actually exceeded them. This is simply the best survival horror game ever created. In fact, had it come out in 2004, it would have been my pick for Game of the Year.

With Resident Evil 4, Capcom has successfully -- triumphantly -- taken the franchise to the next level. It's really emphasized the "survival" in survival horror, too. You're oftentimes on the run for your life. And villagers, much smarter than any zombie, team up, dodge bullets, and do other nasty things that I will let you discover on your own. Then there are the boss fights, which are unexpectedly brilliant. This game is extremely scary, and that fear is intensified by the best graphics and some of the most eerie audio on Nintendo's console.

When you add in the new camera and action systems, as well as Leon's excellent new analog targeting function, you have a completely transformed survival horror experience. One that eclipses everything before it. Indeed, even after 20-plus hours of non-stop thrills, you won't want to put the controller down.

You don't own Resident Evil 4. It owns you.

An absolute must-have.

If you haven't played through it yet, you really need to, absolute genius.

World of Warcraft. I feel ashamed to tell people how many hours i put into that game. Impossible for me to play now im in the world of the working.

RE2 > RE4 btw.

Goldeneye - for the replay value with all the challenges (for invisibility, invincibility, massive heads etc.) and the multiplayer. Ocarina of Time if we're talking storyline/single player alone. The first time you get the horse - awesome!

SSX 3! Based on how much time spent on it and not general quality I guess.

Oh how I wish there will be another SSX... :(

There will - SSX: Deadly Descents

Whether it's any good, is another question. I'm gutted they've gone away from the arcade style, which to me was a huge part of the draw of the original.

Wow thank you! I was on a search mission last month and somehow missed this.

Have to agree about the arcade style of it as I like that it's not too serious. But reading that it seems like we are not the only ones who think that. Really really really hope it's not too disappointing. And if it is then fingers crossed that they make another one with a more silly theme :p

Looking at the trailer I'm not too impressed.

What a question. :p

In no particular order:

Half Life (PC)
Half Life 2 (PC)
Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)
Goldeneye (N64)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)

Not a very good answer, but I'll stop there as there are probably another ten games I would want to list. :o

for consoles I must say either A) Gears of War II since it was spec-freaking-tacular in every concievable way, visuals were ace, story was great, soundtrack was epic, characters good as always, nothing bad about Gears II!

but my B) Killzone II is another epic game, I must confess I heard lots of bad things about that game before I decided I was gonna risk it and buy it, happy to say people were talking a load of utter tosh! the controls were perfect, thats the only word for them, so many people hated them so much for some reason or another, madness! the graphics absolutely blew me away, had seen nothing of the game in development (wasn't big Killzone fan), the first time I played through it I thought 'holy hell, this looks pretty, almost Crysis pretty' it was and still is for me one of the best looking console games ever made, those ships were awesome as well, cool as hell design! :D
