I have a 42" Toshiba LCD from JL with 5 year warranty, last year HDMI 3 port stopped working, I only recently got round to calling them.

They sent a guy out from Martin Dawes and he took the TV away.

Now the TV has an even more annoying fault, the picture position is quite a bit out.

When connected to my PC ATi 5850 via HDMI the picture is off centre to the right and slightly up, connected to my PS3 with HDMI it is slightly to the left.

They replaced the main board, my guess it Toshiba calibrate each main board to the LCD panel before they leave the factory.

The engineers menu is very complicated in these sets, I doubt these repair guys will be able to tweak it in.

I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Anyone else experienced anything like this? Would you be happy if your picture was shifted 1cm to the side?

Def wouldn't be happy and would send it back for a 2nd repair. You 'paid' for a service and they haven't provided it by fully fixing the item

Of course not. Persue it to the end, that's why you paid John Lewis's exorbitant prices :D.

John Lewis were actually very good when i bought my TV, similar in price to all the major retailers at the time They wouldn't price match Richer Sounds as the set I wanted wasn't on display, but when RS added their 5 year guarantee on top JL were cheaper.

Yea the price was pretty good at the time of purchase.

Just got off the phone to JL, the guy from the repair company is coming out on Saturday to adjust the picture as required, we'll see how he gets on.

Will report back after the visit.

I have a Panasonic plasma that the screen went pop on last year. Bought from JL, still well within 1st year of warranty. They eventually fixed it, but I've noticed now that dust is actually starting to come in between the plasma and the plastic 'screen'. Very irritating, as it obviously hasn't been sealed right - unless this is a fairly common fault even out of the factory.
