Maximuscle - milk or water?

I'm not having a stab at the OP just amazed at the markup. Be better of with Phd 2.27KG for that price if you want to stick with a mainstream brand, for future reference :)

I agree with BennyC here, I've seen tubs of protein go for 1.2kg for £30 +. My cousin buys his from the orange signed food shop.

Yet get some PHD pharma whey, or even phd ISO 7 and you can get 2.4kg's for £32, from the large river forest. It sometimes tastes better and offers about the same or better nutrition yet it works out a lot cheaper.

Ordered some Jack3d from bodybuildingwarehouse on Friday, still drumming my thumbs here. First time I venture outside of Myprotein, cheh!

i ordered mine from predator nutrition yesterday, they reckon next day delivery so should be tomorrow. perfect for some squats in the evening hehe

I switched from Pharma whey to MP True Whey, bulk brough about £8 cheaper per tub and is basically the same. If you ever find yourself short for cash

Interesting point about milk that I wasn't aware of is that despite it having a relatively low glycemic index, it does seem to stimulate insulin quite dramatically.

if you wanted branded supps stay away from maximuscle.

as stated before phd are good but i reckon gaspari are the best for flavour, both make top products.

the cheapest place to buy branded supplements is http://monstersupplements.com/store/frontpage-lang-1.html

if you guys know a cheaper place than the above, please do tell.

OP try myofusion, i did a couple of weeks back and i can vouch its a 10/10 product.

I drink the odd time with water when I feel like I've had too many calories already and need to be sensible but the majority of the time it's with milk - purely for taste reasons.

With water, you need to just get it down you and forget about it - nothing to savour. :D

I find a lot of people add too much liquid to their shakes.
True Whey from My Protein tastes amazing when you use 2 scoops in their smallest shaker and only fill it up just over half with water - its almost like a treat!

Thanks for the eye-opening advice, everyone. I'll get a different product next time.

Seeing as this was recommended to me by my gym is it possible at all that they're in cahoots?

Possibly but probably not, its more likely that they just recommend something that most people have heard of.

Highly likely. We've had a small unknown brand come and plaster their **** all over the place. 100% protein etc etc, really. Chances are there's an incentive on offer though seeing as you didn't buy it through them it does seem a bit off.

Usually the best places to ask for advice from seasoned lifters is small supplements shops. I spotted one in St Albans the other day and there was one inside FitSpace in Lincoln which was brilliant. No bull just pure honnest advice, looking after their customers and recommending whats best for them. Not the products with the highest profit margin.

Very competative prices and fantastic offers.

Does this mean the more milk you drink, the fatter you're likely to get?!

Well there is fat in milk, but also the sugars in the milk are carbs. It's all about balance and calories in vs out - if you're expending more than you're intaking then you have nothing to worry about. Besides, milk is goregous! :D

Well, seeing as I'm struggling to make my 3000 kcal a day as it is, I'm not too worried then.

I prefer bottled water with my shakes, milk just makes the shake too thick for my liking and leaves a weird taste in my mouth afterwards.

PHD is some of the nicer tasting protein shakes I've tried, but again its all personal choice and tastes.

Just looked into this, good advice and will have a looksie at getting some cheap when his phd runs out :D!

cheers benny
