After a *lot* of research I decided that the Samsung LE40C580 was probably the best TV in this price bracket - hopefully I'll be proven right as I've just ordered one.Yep the C530 is a cracking TV for the cash imho:

What would worry me is the amount of people on about how thier samsung monitors are dying just after warrenty expires as they are using cheap caps in them.

IMO it's worth paying a little extra for the C580 as it has a Freeview HD tuner, better styling (subjective of course), and a more advanced internal processor (the Valencia as opposed to the Trident or MStar you'll probably find in the C530), which apparently does benefit the overall image quality. Like the C530, it also accurately displays a 4:4:4 chroma signal without downsampling (fed through the HDMI-1 socket), which is nice if you want to use it as a PC monitor.
It's available for £422 at... errr... somewhere, which offers an unconditional 30-day return policy in addition to your standard DSR rights, so you have plenty of time to decide whether it will suit your needs.![]()

can you get a panny plasma in this size/budget?
Cheers guys, quite like the look of the 40" LE40C530, found it on one place at £369.99, £30.00 cheaper than one of the big high street stores. So i may go for it, Intend to use it for blu ray and occasional gaming on the pc. I already have a sharp 32" 1080p lcd, but i need to replace the very old 20" crt telly im using in my room, fancied something a bit bigger this time, not fussed about built in freeview hd as i can add a standalone box set at a later date.
The SAMSUNG LE37C530 looks really nice but it lacks the built in freeview HD which is something I would want![]()
