Wanted 7.1 or 5.1 headset with seperate 3.5MM jacks.

how easy is it to swap from speakers to dolbyfied headphones on the fly ?

at the moment i just have Y leads from my x fi, one set goes to my amp for the speakers, other set goes to my medusa 5.1's, so if i need to shush my speakers (night time, going on comms etc) i just turn the amp off, leaving my headphones unaffected :)

can you do something similer with dolby headphones?

I've got a set of Zalman 5.1's with separate jacks, can't remember the model number though. Cracking headphones, been using them for years without any issues.

You need a switch box. Doing it like you doing it screws around with the impedance of the headphones and can affect sound quality so i've been told.

Splitters are evil. Get a switch box like RobRX-7 suggests.

As for switching between speakers to DH-enabled headphones, it's as simple as opening up the audio control panel and clicking two drop down boxes on my Xonar DG.

It'd be easier still if you got a splitter and an external Dolby Headphone box (although it's a bit silly for "ease of use" alone) like a JVC SU-DH1.

Roccat Kave are excellent quality. I have had a pair for over a year and they are better than ever especially for gaming. :)

Same here, had my Roccat's for about 6 months and they are brilliant for gaming.

Im using an X-Fi Titanium Fatl1ty Pro, running windows 7 64-bit with the latest PAX drivers and I have never had any problems at all

Landy, what sort of issues did you have with yours?

Well i suppose it could have been my sound card, but after day one everything became muffled (imagine like your listening to something in a metal tunnel filled with cotton wool) then would go normal again then muffled, then after day 4 everytime i put anything on with sound (games, TS3, Itunes even loading up AOL etc ) there was a loud high pitched buzzing sound which was even there even though i turned all 4 channels down on the remote control thing, the only thing that would stop it was pressing the mute button on the remote (mute within Windows didnt mute the buzz) or pulling all the jacks out and the USB... i can't fault the build quality of them and how comfy they were and the sound when it worked was pretty good, but the positional sound wasn't as amazing as the build quality, although not terrible... also, when you had bass turned up on the remote (when they were working) made the left earphone rattle which sounded awful, but im lead to believe they are mean't to do that...
