I'm looking for films made in the last 5-10 years :) Any suggestions? I've seen most of the big names:

Troy
Kingdom of Heaven
Alexander
Gladiator
Robin Hood

On my to watch list at present:
Akora
Mongol

:)

what did the Romans ever do for us????

Monty Python and the Life of Brian/ Holy Grail :D

How about The Last Legion? Thats not too bad at all :)

erm.... Centurion

How about Excalibur?

Other thing you might like is a series called Rome

Arn, the Knight Templar.

The Name of the Rose.

The Warlord.

The Lion in Winter.

The Seventh Seal.

Ben Hur.

Alexander The Great (Richard Burton).

Most not made in the last 10 years or so, but well worth the watch and besides Kingdom of Heaven and possibly Gladiator superior to most of the modern tat.

A bit left of centre but.....Timeline.

Go epic and watch some of the Bible Epics made in the 60s lol better than those modern ones

Ben Hur, Spartacus, Cleopatra :P

Is the Kingdom of Heaven you saw the directors cut? If not then definitely re-buy it and enjoy nearly fifty extra minutes. Turns it from a good movie into a superb one.

I agree, that list is pretty pap with the exception of Kingdom of Heaven(Directors cut Dante6491 ;) ) and Gladiator. Just looking for more suggestions.

I'm trawling through trailers now :) Added to my list so far: Centurion, King Arthur, The Last Legion.

When it comes to films of this genre, I definitely prefer the newer visual elements. It's partly the reasons I like the films so much which is why I generally avoid or dislike the movies made around the 60s.

Kingdom of Heaven is absolutely dire :/

Rome series is really good, watched them over a couple of weeks as the uni library had them :)

edit: Centurion is also, sadly, absolute pony.
