Asked by my friends mum to build her a nice brand new system for £400-£450

I have just ordered the parts, just looking to see what you would have changed and what you think.

I know everyone is a firm believer in the Geil RAM that everyone buys, I bought some myself last week for the girlfriends build. However these ones looked cooler and were on special, so saved 2 quid over the Geil.

Basically used for browsing, banking, emails, photos, videos... the usually mumsy stuff.

Probably not, she was on a tight budget. She really wanted the mouse as she loves mine and her sons, we both have the MX Revolution from Logitech. I did suggest the cheaper one at £7... told her it was fine. Wasn't having any of it lol.

Have you any experience of the G.Skill RAM. I've used pretty much every other manufactuer except them. Lifetime warranty and same specs, so they are all much of a muchness really.

Yeah GSkills fine, used it in few builds before
Geil has won top recomended RAM due to it being quite a bit cheaper than others for first few weeks since OcUK started restocking it, now its back upto similar sort of price as you say its all pretty much the same anyway

i think i would've been inclined to use different ram as well, i doubt if your friends mum would be able to tell the difference between that G.Skill Ripjaw & Corsair Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low Voltage Dual-Channel Kit £33.58 inc VAT

Anything with the word Value in it was an instant "NONONO, We can't have that" haha... she was refusing AMD at first because someone told her something about athlon being rubbish. Just goes to show what sort of rep they have amongst the less knowledgable and what a good job Intel does at marketing.
